About this item

  • MADE IN GERMANY: Classics Custom Brilliant cymbals are made at the Meinl Cymbal factory in Gutenstetten, Germany; they're formed with high-tech German engineering for consistent bright tone, powerful feel, and durability across all models
  • WHY IT MATTERS: these cymbals will make your kit sound and look professional; plus, the big assortment makes it easy to find your voice whether it's just one piece or a matching complete set
  • WHAT'S IN THE BOX: one 16" thin crash cymbal; the Classics Custom Brilliant thin crash is lighter than the medium version to open fast and express more warmth
  • DRIVING THE SOUND: made of durable B12 bronze alloy weighted and shaped for loud volume and controlled sustain; fully lathed surfaces with brilliant finish produce clean tone, and precision hammering dials-in musical frequencies
  • THE UPSIDE FOR YOU: you'll be heard next to distortion charged guitar amps or in wide-open, large rooms with a bright cymbal cut that doesn't overtake or ring out forever
  • OF NOTE: this is the thin weight Classics Custom crash; thin weight gives the cymbal a smooth touch and a lighter response at a lower volume
  • BEST FOR: rock, fusion, worship; ALSO GREAT FOR: high-energy pop, R&B, funk
  • THE TAKEAWAY: Classics Custom Brilliant is for you if you like powerful cymbals with clean tone, bright attack, and a controlled sustain; their expert German craftsmanship is built to last

The 16" Meinl Classics Custom Brilliant Thin Crash is lightweight, allowing it to open fast and express more complex character and warm tonality. The softer feel under the stick makes this cymbal more inviting to play at a low to medium volume. This crash is versatile for many applications from clubs to home studios.

I recently ripped Meinl a new one in a review for their "china" cymbal (horrible junk, avoid at all costs), so I thought it only fair that I leave a positive review for a cymbal I actually like. I've used Meinl before, in fact my hi-hats are theirs and I love them. I'm no cymbal snob, I'll look for something cheap and buy it if it sounds good. I mean, I'm playing mostly in smoky bars to inebriated crowds, not in concert halls or recording sessions. Hence why I tried the Meinl china type, it was cheap - but it did not sound good. This 14" medium crash, however, looks and sounds great, in my opinion. The finish is brilliant, and it looks fantastic under the lights. My other two crash cymbals are a Zildjian 16" S medium thin, and a Sabian crash/ride (see, no snob!). This Meinl crash fits right in with my others with a bright impact and fast brilliant wash. Sounds amazing when "double crashed" with either other cymbal, as it provides this high end and faster decay. No idea how long it will last, but Meinl offer a 2-year warranty (against "defects in workmanship", so not sure how that will play out if the cymbal cracks during use, but maybe we'll find out!), and I'm not a super heavy hitter (though I did break the two previous Sabian B8 crashes I replaced with this). So far I'm happy with this Meinl 14" crash, it's a nice sounding mid-level crash at a good price.

I really enjoy the bright sound from this 18" crash. I pair it in the front of my kit as my two main crashes along with the Meinl Classics Custom Medium 18" crash. A great sound and easy to play. Meinl did well here!

The Custom Classics give a more sharp and sustaining sound especially for a lower priced cymbal. As opposed to its other competitors, you cannot beat the value and sound these cymbals have!

Great price, and great sound. These two never cross paths when it comes to cymbals until now. The new classics "custom" have a great brilliant finish similar to a Zildjian A custom, and they have a great bright sound followed up with a quick decay. Again much like an A custom.I play professionally in a touring band, and these also hold up well on the road. Just maintain them like you would for any other cymbal and you will be good to go.I am certainly planning on getting more of these because for the price and sound, you just can't go wrong.
