Excellent magnifying glass, was shocked with how well and easy this worked. Holds a great charge, kids are obsessed, extremely cool gift idea, perfect size for a child, definitely worth buying, even has games.

I got this for my three year old son for Christmas and he was so excited to use it right away. It has a little bit of a learning curve, but once you hold the magnification really close to the object, it appears more clear and if you hold it further away, it gets blurry. My son was able to take it to the beach and Look at a lot of cool objects and also take pictures of them. There’s also little games like Tetris that are nostalgic.

I got this for my 11 year old daughter to play around with since she loves science stuff. Obviously this isn't a professional level microscope, so you aren't seeing at a true microscopic level, but it is pretty impressive for what it is! It's got good picture quality, and seems very well made. We've played around with it a few times now and it's been fun each time!

When I first got this microscope, I was super worried because it wasn’t working after I charged it. It did take a while to charge, but I was difficult to figure out which button to use to turn on. However, once you get through navigating the different buttons, it really is a super fun product. You can zoom in on different things and there’s a light as well which makes it really easy to see. There are also games that you can play on this because it has a small screen. The Sim and microscope are digital, but it represents really nicely and you can see a lot of detail and what you are focusing on. I think this is a great gift for a child that is interested in science.

Calling it a microscope is a bit of a stretch. It's more like a giant super powered magnifying glass. It works basically like a magnifying glass, but the magnification is way higher (although not on the same order as a real microscope). It has a little plastic fence on the bottom which is the same height as the focal length of the camera so you don't have to fiddle with focussing at all. You just set it down on the thing you want to look at and it works...like a magnifying glass.I was able to connect it to my computer as well. It shows up as a webcam. It's obviously better if you look at it on a computer, but the little screen works surprisingly well as well. It's useful even without hooking up to a computer. It has a picture taking mode, but I couldn't figure out how to get the pictures off of the device. I was only ever able to connect it to the computer as a webcam, not a storage device. As far as I can tell there is no sd card slot or anything either. So the pictures might be cool for a kid to show his parents the neat thing, but have little use outside of that.It also has games? Which are not really a downside I guess, but they aren't really an upside either. Any kid with one of these will be within an arms reach of a phone or tablet which is infinitely better for playing games. It does state clearly that it is 200x instead of the 2000x of a normal microscope. So you should expect to be able to see individual cells or anything. It does clearly state this, and the difficulty of holding this form factor steady with 2k magnification would make it unuseable so I'm not docking any stars.Over all I'm surprised at how much I like this thing. The form factor makes it super easy to use. The fact that it shows up as a standard web cam makes it easily attached to phones/computers/tablets without any proprietary app nonsense. It's just super convenient and fun. And for my use case of inspecting fine details of 3d printed plastic, it is absolutely 150% of perfect!

My grand-daughter is obsessed with bugs. She has no fear of them and is fascinated by their look. I can only imagine the delight when she looks at the next spider. Unfortunately, she'll have to wait for Christmas, which means I can't provide a child's reaction. There is a small fold out user manual that does a decent job in identifying the parts of the magnifier and focuses on how to delete captures (files) from the camera. Included is a review of the functions available through a menu; you have to understand the concepts of using OK and the arrow buttons. There is no button for the camera or the magnifier. Once you power on, the magnifier is the default and you have to figure out that hitting the OK button will take a photo(actually, that was in the user manual...). To change the magnification you need to use the arrow buttons (That wasn't in the manual but might be intuitive to some people?). To increase the magnification you depress the left arrow for up, and right for down. Each depress increases or decreases magnification by .1X. When using the magnifier, depressing the up arrow increases and the down arrow decreases the brightness. My wife and I both played with it for a bit to uncover the gaps in the user manual. For our 4 year old granddaughter, Mom and Dad are going to have to learn how the device operates. We did find the magnification adequate. You won't see the cells of an onion skin but it good enough for looking at bugs, the details of a flower or the pores on your skin. I like that it had a few (5) games included, I tried the the one that reminds me of PONG and I wasn't any good at this one either. Maybe today's kids can figure it out from experience but none of the games have instructions.I like that it can be recharged and they provide the Type-C cable. A nice feature is a "time-out" where it will turn itself off after a specified amount of time to save the battery (a must). Once plugged in a transformer (and the power is off) it displays a battery in silhouette which shows the charging progress in green. If the magnifier is on when the cable is plugged in a small menu comes up for "Charging mode" which, when selected with OK, continues to charge but you can use the magnifier. The only other option is "PC Camera" which merely displays a picture of a video camera. This is a toy but it can have some real learning benefits and open doors that a child might not know to open. Is it worth the asking price, that's a matter of opinion, but I think so.
