All you need to do is watch a couple of YouTube videos to see the install. I always do this after reading the instructions on any of my DIY projects as most times there are issues you may encounter not mentioned in the directions.Installing the new GPS module on my Xi5 was pretty straightforward and probably took less than 30 minutes.I do hate that these things are so expensive. Given that it's a common enough problem that there are so many posts and videos on the issue, I'm not exactly flooded with confidence that this is a one time fix.I did buy my trolling motor with the boat and both were used. The boat is a 2010 model, so I assume the trolling motor is likely at least 10 years old. If the module lasts that long, the price isn't too bad.It's amazing to me that, once you have this on your trolling motor, you can't imagine not having it. This is the first trolling motor I've ever had with the anchor mode (spot lock) and that's the function I use most.When I got the boat, it almost seemed laughable to me that anyone would ever need GPS on the trolling motor and really didn't think I'd use it. Wrong! When the GPS went out, I felt like the whole boat was broken and it was totally unusable! My how the mighty have fallen.So, if you've never GPS on your TM and don't see a need for it, don't get it. Because once you do, you won't be able to go back.

Got my replacement and installed and tested it today! The features that are included with this are a must have for Kayak fishing. The instant anchor and course hold are unbelievable.route logging is insane!! You can make a route on a lake and next time fish it basically hands free on that lake!! Get one of these you can't go wrong!!

Haven't tried it on the lake yet, but the installation and pairing it to the hand held control was a piece of cake!Can't wait for the first fishing trip to use it.Update!This spot lock works fantastic.Tried it on a really windy day and it held the boat right place.Well worth every dollar!!

Installed on Xi3 Motor Guide - Plug and Play Upgrade- Check out installation video on YouTube and install it. Installation time was around 20 minutes and was interrupted 2 times. I used it this afternoon and it was great. Anchor function was super - boat stayed in a tight location in wind - what a pleasant day fishing and not fighting the trolling motor all day! Heading functionality was super nice - aimed down a shoreline and actually got to fish verse fight boat/wind! You can also set the speed of the boat on the heading. I am glad I bought this after one trip! Worth the money to me!
