We gave this to my son to hit baseballs in the garage in July of 2015 when he was six; it is presently February of 2024 and he is fifteen. The only reason for replacing is that as he has aged and is hitting balls in excess of 90mph. When using this screen the prior ball hit is flying back at him from the netting at a speed that seems dangerous to him and definitely to my sheetrock. There have been no issues structurally and will still use this outside for pitching. We really never used this for travel and it just stayed up in the garage at all times for hitting, but it pops up in seconds-taking it down is a bit more challenging but there is a trick to it and lots of youtube videos to remind you of said trick if you forget. This net has been used a minimum of 3-5 times per week since its purchase and we could not have been happier with it. I tried a few things to get the balls to stop flying out, but nothing really worked. I would estimate that up to about 80mph exit velocity, we had no problems and then they would just kind of trickle or bounce out until recently, but the kid is 6"5"/230lbs and the ball is not coming off the bat any less hot so we had to make a change. You could not do better for a younger kid wanting to get more reps in the garage though.

My daughter has only used this once so far, but I am impressed with the construction, ease of setup and ease of teardown. The metal frame is much more robust than I imagined. The netting is strong and much tighter than expected (I am confident that it would easily stop a golf ball). All the talk about how difficult it is to pack away is overblown. Careful inspection of the supplied instructions made everything easy. For those still struggling 1) release the tension on the support straps. 2) You need to "pop" the upper frame to the rear position in order to close it. Best way to think of it is turning the frame inside-out. The frame should be dished (front and top in the air and not on the ground when the logo - front section thst sits on the ground as you are using the screen - is face-up) and not arched. I see no reason this will not provide years of use.**** Update 9/22/2016 ****My daughter has now been using this for over 4-months, including 4-times a week for the last 4-weeks for her entire 10U team to use for off-T hitting to work on form and while on-deck at games. Other than a few bent stakes (easily corrected) and some minor fraying of the net (entirely expected) it is holding up very well - even against a few hard swings into the poles. Still find it very easy to set up a tear down. One item I would like to see improved upon is the strike-zone. Need to be able to adjust it lower and smaller. It is entirely to large and too high for girls of this age. To compensate at the moment, I am simply clipping the straps to the edge of the net further down to bring the entire zone lower.

I just ordered my second Jugs Instant Screen, First one was 4 years ago and it still works after 4 years of coaching baseball. I have 3 small net tears and the outer weave snapped. So I'd say pretty damn good for a piece of equipment that has been hit into for over 150 Days a year for 4 Years. Our 12 U Travel team is going to have 20 indoor practices this spring so I thought a second one would be handy. I've yet to find anything that is as portable, easy to set up and take down. (Look the first couple of times you fold it up you will look like a fool but once you get it, its a snap.By Far one of the Best Baseball products I have ever owned.

We had purchased a First Pitch Baseline pitching machine and needed a backstop we could take with us to machine pitch practice and to 11-12 year old baseball practices. I was worried about putting the thing away because I had seen other coaches struggle with similar products. The best news about the Jugs Instant Screen is there is a youtube video that shows you how to do it. I've used the screen probably 10-12 times now and I'm not yet making it look effortless like the guy in the video does, but the screen is indeed manageable and not hard to put back in it's carrying case. I will say that if you're on a surface in which you cannot get the spikes in the ground, then you'll need some way to keep the wind from blowing it over. I've used a couple of buckets of balls with success and also packed along a bag of fertilizer and a bag of lead shot, one on the front and one on the back. Both methods worked fine. I'm sure the included spikes work fine too, but we don't practice on natural grass so the spikes don't work for me. Overall, a great and handy product. I'll probably buy another next year so we can have one as a backstop and one as a soft toss station.
