My favorite Bino harness was the S4 lockdown. They are out of business. These are the closest replacement I found. The harness is well made. I used them on a recent trip to South Africa. I wore 10x42 Binos for a week. The harness was comfortable and kept the binos secure and readily accessible. I like that the harness usable with one hand. The elastic keeps the binos in place under a top of the harness so they do not get dust on the glass.

This appears to be an upgraded copy of the S4 Gear Lockdown bino carrier who stopped making theirs. The bungee retention system allows the binos to be quietly removed and replaced under its protective flap as needed using one hand. Once under the top flap, the bottom flap can be secured if desired. A definite plus to this design is that once under the top flap, it will prevent dust, rain, snow, etc from dropping onto/into the eyepieces. It will fit most 10x42 binos (Leupold and Vortex 10x42 binos). It has one 5”x5”pocket/slot in the rear (closest to chest). It is not a secured pocket, ie no zipper or velcro to keep any contents from falling out. My phone actually fell out of that pocket while climbing over an obstacle. It has a diamond shaped neoprene zippered pouch in the back where the backstraps intersect between the shoulder blades. For reference, it can almost fit a 3”x5” card if you fold the corners in. Within that pouch is a mesh pouch about 12”L x 5”W that is sewn in and rolls out. Neither of these pouches are easily accessible and I haven’t really figured out what they’re supposed to be used for since the wearer will not be able to access them unless you take the harness off. The mesh pouch is too small for 99% of water bladders. If you put anything of bulk in them, ie keys, SMALL cellphone, glasses, etc, they will not be accessible and should you choose to sit down and lean back against a seatback, you WILL feel it. I ended up cutting the mesh pouch out for more space and to get rid of that lump caused by the mesh pouch. The harness is very adjustable, but the con of that is that you might have a lot of straps hanging out. I spent a bit of time securing those straps with velcro ties once adjusted. This harness might be very good for a birdwatcher or an activity with minimal rigorous movement. As a hunting rig, it can use some improvements, ie elastic pocket on top flap, magnetic closure on pockets for securing contents and silence, loose strap fastening system and other colors (camo, FDE, OD) like S4 had. As of this writing, it only comes in black. I believe it is the best current minimalist bino harness on the market right now, but there is room for improvement. I would pay more for those improvements, but this is a good improved iteration.

Quite good protection for outdoors. Somewhat difficult to use the first time, but later it works fine. Really long straps, good for big people but too much for tiny ones. Not specially suited for the female body.
