If you are new to Orico TS500 then...read on:Cloud based App management Pros:-------------------------PC App, Android & IOS Smartphone-Tablet App is available for download.Is free, no monthly premiums as far as my experienceIf you are on the road, you can retrieve your files remotely through the App.Cloud based App management Cons:-------------------------Internet required where ever you are to use this app.If for work, your company firewall maybe restrict your cloud app access (check your company policy)Summary:-------------------------* To me it seems to be a entry point NAS for personal/family use, meaning taking tons photos, watch streaming movies etc., want to access something remotely every now and then, yeah this is perfect.* Its entirely made of plastic, it does have a descent cooling built in. its not too loud.* Data transfer speed over network seems to fluctuates but overall it is faster than CD2510/CD3510 (I am using all SSD drives)* For advanced nerds, this unit is not compatible with JBOD enclosures (unless your JBOD is capable of supporting S.M.A.R.T. protocol), TS500 need to monitor health conditions of each storage device, if S.M.A.R.T. protocol is missing from your device, it will eventually think the drive as if it's failing.If you are a vacation travelers/off-road/off-grid nature loving person, then might want to consider:-------------------------Taking TS500 in a travel / recreational camper vehicle, will it continue work off-road / off-grid as in no internet service via computer attached LAN/network ?(ask Orico)The front lid is magnetic, it kind of weak in my opinion, it fell off several times for me mildly touching the lid exposing the drive bay locking latch mechanism.
