I wondered if I really needed to buy this but after getting it and to my surprise, it works SO WELL. There are not many things you find online that do exactly what they say they'll do and this is an absolute 10/10. I even have the KitchenAid attachment that does all the same grating features but I bought this because it's just so simple, so much lighter and less complicated, simple to clean and it has saved me so much time. Bonus I don't have to cut my fingers to grate the last little bit of cheese or veggies. I made potato latkes using this today and it was perfection.

I wasn't going to write a review, but after I used it for the first time, (grating raw potatoes for hash browns), I was truly impressed. This hand grater is bad-ass! The suction holds it firmly in place and it made easy work of the potatoes. Can't wait to use it on cheeses or whatever. Job well done!

I was skeptical that this could be easy enough for my 78 yr old hands. But it IS! Takes up way less space than my 25yr old salad shooter, does a great job easily, and dishwasher cleans it up.

So this is absolutely functional and great for the price point — makes grating things much, much easier. However, it does not stick to any countertop surface in my kitchen (wood or stone), so it does take a lot of extra muscle to actually do the grating, as you have to hold the unit still as it rocks while you're pushing down and spinning the mechanism. It's not easy, but still easier than manually grating with a cone or straight grater, for sure.TL;DRL If you grate often I would pay a bit more for one that definitely suctions effectively (or for the kitchenaid accessory, if you have one of the standing mixers). If you're wondering if this sort of thing is worth the hype, it is.

So I said "honestly if it broke next week I would buy another one, that's how much I love it." in this review. Well guess what? I broke it and (after crying my eyes out) I purchased another one that came today. The break has nothing to do with the quality of the grater! It was totally my fault because the clear plastic barrel was a bit hard to get off and I whacked it with my fist which caused it to fly through the air and bounce around on my tile floor, which cause it to chip and send pieces everywhere. Let's hope I can keep this one!Oh how I wish I purchased this sooner because EVERYONE would be getting one for Christmas! This little cheese (and veggie and whatever else) grater is amazing! I just grated 2 one-pound blocks of mozzarella in under 3 minutes...no lie! As soon as I cleaned up, I came to my computer because I just had to write a review. I grate a LOT of cheese every week - cheddar for our weekly Taco Tuesday nachos and tacos, mozzarella, pecorino romano and provolone for casseroles and chicken parm, and 4 blocks of Alpine Cheddar when I make my home-made macaroni and cheese. Standing with the box grater at the kitchen counter for who knows how long was just getting to be too much. I am only 5' 2" so I could never really get the leverage needed to make it a speedy (and non-exhausting) task. Never mind trying to keep the box grater from dancing around the counter and trying not to grate my fingers in the process! This grater is quick to assemble and dis-assemble (makes clean up a snap!) and then can be stored right back in the box. I have Formica counter tops and the suction cup kept the grater right in place. I suspect it would be just as good on any stone counter top. The turn knob on the side makes it easy to stick in place and easy to remove with just a twist of the knob. Three different cartridges allow you to grate a nice variety of items - fine grate for more delicate cheeses or chocolate; medium grate (I used this one tonight for the mozzarella for our pizza) for cheese, carrots, veggies; and the slice cartridge for veggies (I am going to use it for zucchini next). It seems to be quite sturdy as well and honestly if it broke next week I would buy another one, that's how much I love it. You won't go wrong with this. And it comes in a fun variety of colors!

Update -the lock device holds down when it wants to hold down, and the rest of the time pops and unlocks so that your shredded cheese goes everywhere. Dropping to one star. Will update again if necessary.I got this because I have arthritis and needed a one-hand operation.+it does lock down well and works quickly+better on arthritic hands than the manual graters+I enjoy not hanging my hands grated every time I need shredded cheese.-every time I use this, There is cheese build up - sometimes the build up is very difficult to get out.-a faff to take apart and clean every time-a faff to store s as it does take up quite a lot of space.-pretty pricey for what it isI am debating returning this, as every time I use it, I have to pull out the bits that get stuck inside.
