Only differences are dual turret lugs, Not a DW quality snare drum, and built offshore. Otherwise it carries the name of DW justly. This is an absolute gem, worth twice the price. if you're in the market for a professional level product, this is just that. I cant imagine PDP/DW is going to continue offering this for much longer, I can imagine the concept series is bleeding sales off of the Performance series and design series of DW kits.Get it. You wont regret it. just dont get blue/turqoise fade, that color's mine.; )

My PDP Concept Maple kit creates the most amazing tones and sounds and it cost LESS than a thousand dollars!!! I literally pinch myself when I play it because I just can't believe how little I spent on my kit. Of course, all the money I saved went to my cymbals. Don't ever convince yourself that you need to spend big-time money to create your dream kit. Concept Maple from PDP by DW is all that you will ever need.

I bought this set through guitar center and was very disappointed. Problems right out of the box.1. One tom came with the wrong hoops. They were a different lug pattern. Luckily the drum tech at guitar center was very helpful and switched em out for me.2. There was a crack on the bass drum. When contacting PDP/DW they said it was cosmetic when it was clearly body/shell damage. Very little help from the manufacturer. I was very disappointed with Dan's help in customer service. I got the runaround was left waiting for a response.3. The bearing edges were uneven. I was having a hard time tuning this set and couldn't figure out why there where so many overtones. After trying a couple of different head types I finally checked the bearing edges. They were uneven/not square. I don't know if you know anything about bearing edge on drums but I've learned that they can be a really big problem. If it weren't for the guys at Guitar Center I'd still be dealing with DW. Fortunately I was able to return it through Guitar Center Pro coverage. I got my money back and I'm now waiting for a Mapex Armory set. Mapex seems to be the only drum company that's even concerned with bearing edges. We'll see.I'm sure PDP/DW make wonderful sets. I may have just gotten a bad one. My first set is a PDP Z5 and it has its issues but that's what I expected from a starter set. I won't be buying from PDP/DW anymore based on their customer service alone. Guitar Center is still cool though

This kit is incredible !! The quality is great for the investment. I have been playing a Ludwig kit that is ok, but these are really higher quality. The finish and hardware are very nice, and maple is a plus also.

I'm the type of person, especially with music gear, that always refers to the old saying, "You get what you pay for." This drum set is an absolute beauty in person and the sound really will surprise you! Go with Evans G2 on tops and G1 on the bottom and your set! I use these in a studio, mic'd with sub par mics and the sound will still blow you away. Are there better kits out there? Of course, but I'm definitely not going to pay $6,000+ for a DW. The only kit I would consider buying over this one is a Yamaha Live Custom. But again, about a $700 price difference.Bottom line, most of us musicians will never hit the big stage. Most of us will play shows in front of people who know absolutely nothing about gear quality. Unless you just have the money to blow, most of us don't need anything more than this. Great product, great price, 5/5
