16 ounce nominal, 15+5/8 ounce actual. Described as "Machined from solid brass" but it is affected by magnetic fields, even with the steel point removed. Probably not for very precise work in strong magnetic fields.Even if a magnet will not stick to it, there is enough attractive force to roll a round magnet towards it when resting on a smooth level surface (or to topple a magnet stood on edge) when brought up close. Oh well, they didn't say it was non-magnetic so I guess I'll have to wear that, although I am annoyed that I passed up other 16 oz brass plumb bobs that were cheaper because I thought Bon Tool was synonymous with quality. Some of those others came with up to 2 free spare points (for this one you have to buy one separately at $9.60).Speaking of points, the retail card says "Storage for extra point in cap". Sure, there's a cavity under the cap, but on mine it is too shallow for the supplied point by at least 0.120". This would leave the cap prone to unscrew in service so you cannot store a spare point under the cap unless you do a bit of drilling.
