I bought the PRUNUS J-128 Pocket AM FM Radio for its portability and features. It's lightweight and easy to carry around. The sound quality is clear, and the flashlight feature is a useful bonus. It's perfect for outdoor activities, emergencies, or simply enjoying music on the move.

This is a great little pocket radio. The sound quality is good, not tinny, and can be turned up quite loud. The FM antenna, unlike on most small radios, can swivel in two planes, letting you adjust for the best reception. The radio is not heavy and has nicely rounded edges for hand comfort. What I am most impressed with is the digital tuner: my test for all radios is to see if I can pick up my favorite NPR station whose transmitter is about 45 miles away. Some radios struggle to pick this one up clearly, but this little pocket radio has no problems whatsoever. I have two small complaints: I wish the belt clip weren't molded in, and I find the memory function is automatic only - you cannot manually store a frequency or change the order of the stations. Since I really only listen to one FM and one AM station, that's not a huge deal for me.

This radio is good for a budget pocket radio. It will be good for listening to ball games, talk radio, casual music listening and for kids. No, it is not high quality audio but I didn't expect it to be. There are some nice features. The sleep timer is nice, having a belt clip is nice and the instructions are clear and easy to read. The reception is good for the stronger stations and less so for the weaker stations which again, is normal for this size and cost radio. You will have to move it around for the best reception. So if you need a radio that you want to carry around and not have to worry about, this one will work.

This is a nice AM/FM clock radio. It's lightweight and small, fitting nicely in the palm of the hand. It does take 2 AA batteries (not included). The clock time is easy to set, and you can select 12H or 24H format. There are 2 "modes", the first being clock mode and the second being radio mode. You cannot see the time in radio mode. You can select between AM or FM bands. You can scan and automatically set presets to all the stations it finds. You can have separate presets for the AM band and the FM band. However, you cannot manually add presets, delete presets, or re-order the presets. This would have been a nice functionality to have. The radio stations come in clearly. There is an antenna, extendable, that makes some stations come in better. Volume is easily adjusted with a rotating dial in the corner of the radio. You can also set an off-timer as well as an alarm (which plays the last-played radio station when it goes off).

Pros:-Good FM reception.-Uses 2 standard AA batteries and can use rechargeables.-Has headphone jack that is in stereo for FM.-Has manual tuning, as well as presets.-Has LED light.-Has backlight.-Has sleep timer.-Has alarm.-Has belt clip.-Has lanyard.-Has lock.Neutral-Has pretty good feet. Not great, but not bad.Cons:-Very poor AM reception.-No means to add or remove presets manually.-Has constant background hum at very low volume.-Has hard to read display, especially when using backlight.-Has bad case resonance.-Has weak headphone amp.I will start out by saying that I usually like the radios that Prunus turns out, and that's why I got this one to test, but this one is a rare exception. While this radio has very good FM reception, it's AM reception is very poor, which is not that unusual for this size radio, but this should still be noted. The worst problem arises from the constant background hum at very low volume levels. If you turn the volume all the way down, there is still a constant background hum that is very annoying. This is not a reception issue, but it is an electrical shielding issue. This needs to be fixed by Prunus in the next iteration of this radio. The next major issue I have with this radio is the difficult to read display. The numbers are large enough, but the display is difficult to read unless you are looking at it at just the correct angle. This problem is even more pronounced when the backlight is on. When using the backlight, the entire display is completely washed out unless you look at it at just the perfect angle, which is very annoying.Another major issue I noticed with this radio is that it has a lot of case resonance. Even at very moderate listening levels, the case has a lot of resonance and vibration. Even though the speaker isn't overly tinny, this resonance problem makes this radio difficult to listen to because it's so annoying.I could go on, but you get the idea. Even at the current on-sale price of only $13.99, there are much better options out there, for about the same price, even from Prunus themselves. I'm sorry, but I would not recommend this radio in its current form. Prunus, you can do better.

I snagged this pocket radio to put in my hurricane kit. Other than a digital display, this little pocket radio is a throwback to the '60s and the transistors of that eraThe pocket AM/FM radio also has a built-in flashlight and clock. I live in a congested urban area and the signal quality is fantastic. Picking up all the stations available in my area. The only drawback to this little radio is that it uses standard batteries in lieu of rechargeables. As an emergency radio in a hurricane kit, rechargeable would have been better. Not enough of an issue to knock it down from five stars but just something to be aware of.This radio has plenty of features (including a clock and countdown timer), and I encourage you to read the instructions. For the money, this is a great addition to any pack out kit.
