This reel is great overall with one big caveat for me. It does not swivel 180 degrees. It's closer to 150 degrees. Indeed, the mounting bracket is not wide enough to allow the reel to go 180 degrees. Even if I add a spacer behind the bracket, it still won't go 180 degrees because the housing will touch the bracket and prevent rotation... It's sad as that could be so easily fixed straight at the factory...Besides that, it looks like a solid retractable reel. Now I will try to find a way to mount it do that it can sits parallel to the wall...

Overall, it appears to be a pretty good unit. I bought it after watching numerous videos. I got the 86' long cord version. The one thing that seems cheap is the mounting bracket. It's made out of plastic, and you would think that for the price it would be made out of steel. Maybe it will hold up, IDK. Haven't had it long enough to confirm durability. Mine is mounted on an outside wall with full morning sun, so time will tell. I've had it now for 2 or 3 months, and no problems. We use it like 3-4 times a week. Note: I did buy the cover for it hoping it will last a little longer. Again, we'll see. Will update in the future.

I installed the 80' retractable cable in the trunk of my car with a 3000w pure sine wave industrial inverter to get mobile power out to remote job sites. I've cycled the cable more than 100 times now with no noticeable wear on the retracting mechanism. This product suits my needs perfectly, and the additional integrated breaker is a huge bonus!

I waited for a sale on this and glad I did. There is a much easier way to hang this from wall or ceiling. The mounting bracket is removable by removing 2 screws on the side that release the round swivel inserts. You can then hang just the bracket without any weight. I used 3 inch lag screws with large washers and pre drilled holes before using a socket wrench to tighten. I can literally hang from the mount so it will hold the reel easily. Then before attaching the reel I pulled the entire cord out and moved the stop to the end to prevent it from moving. The housing is not heavy when the cord is not in it. Then you line up one end and push the round insert back in the hole through the mounting bracket side hole and put screw back in, repeat the other side. I then removed the cord stop and slowly let the cord rewind into the housing and about 3 feet out I reinstalled the stop. I saw another reviewer having issue with not having 2 studs close enough, you install it inline with the stud or ceiling joist you do not need two, it would never reach anyway. You could mount a 2x4 across two joists or studs if you wanted to though in order to have the reel in a east west position vs north and south. I really love this addition and I am sure I will not be tripping anymore over all my cords on the floor while doing projects. I am female so if I can do it, anyone can. I wish it were not orange but I can always paint it .

I was a little worried about whether the spring reel would really do its job, but it has always exceeded expectations for far (keeps pulling in without stopping and requiring a second withdrawal to get it started again). I had planned a ceiling mount but the outlets were too close to a ceiling fan. A wall mount works great. Ignore the YouTube videos on how to install this. They are absolutely nuts. Most require you to take the device apart. Just use a rule to measure you holes, drill, tighten in the bolts to nearly there, and slip on the bracket. Works for either wall or ceiling. Pull out the cable if you need a lighter load to lift to the mounting area. With the wall mount, I can reach up and grab the device to hold it still (it swings to you can direct a cord where you need it). That way I can direct the cable back and for for a nice even roll-up. Not sure if that is needed but I'm a bit on the control side. Because I bought the three outlet version, I also need to buy a short cord (10' 12AWG) for plug into the three-way. You will find that most of your lawn devices had a recessed plug that won't work with a three-way.

Great cord reel. Installed easily in my garage. Robust design. Nice heavy gauge cord with lighted 3 way end. Wish it had an automatic side-to-side, indexing rewind (like an air hose reel) but I found this doesn't really need it. There's plenty of room for cord to rewind. Very happy with purchase.
