Needed collapsible rod for suitcase and airline flights cause the airlines tried to charge for rod holder attached to my suitcase but I argued about it & they let it go - would be $50 extra so this rod for fly fishing or any kind worked great with flies . Not as light as my graphite 4 piece and little stiff but casted 30 or 40 yards okay..

I will start this review by saying that I have quite a few telescopic fishing rods, so I think that I am familiar with what can be expected of one. I have telescopic spinning rods, baitcast rods, and tenkara rods, but the only Western fly rod that I have found other than this one that is telescopic is the Eagle Claw Pack-it telescopic fly rod. It is a great rod ,but I wanted one that is longer and a heavier weight than the 3wt Eagle Claw. I bought this and I was really hopeful that it would be a good rod. Unfortunately this rod has multiple problems that keep it from being a good rod. First, is the weight of the rod. The rod weighs 156 grams which is pretty hefty. For comparison the reel I put on it only weighs 154 grams with backing, line and leader. It is literally heavier than a piece of metal. My 8wt rod that I have is only 123 grams. Next is the extreme stiffness of this rod. A 5wt line cam not properly load this because the rod is too stiff. Only the top 8 inches of the rod flex giving this a very fast action. While throwing line out with this rod is possible, it isn't very pleasant. To compare this the the 8wt rod again,using the same line and reel, the 8wt will load much.easier with the 5wt line than this one will. This rod is so stiff that, not only is it stiffer than the Eagle Claw Pack-it telescopic fly rod, it is stiffer than most of my telescopic spinning rods. It has all of the flexibility of a cypress stick. On a positive note, the rod has a nice appearance and it came in a good looking box. Overall, I wanted to love it, but I can't. The search continues for a telescopic fly rod.

This Rod is perfect for traveling. This collapsible set up works great for any outdoorsman who never knows when they’ll get the opportunity to fish! It virtually takes up zero space in your vehicle so you can always have it with you. The quality of this rod is amazing for the cost you pay it has just the right about of whip and stiffness for those long cast!

Bought this for my husband, who is particular about his fly rods, for a retirement gift. After receiving it, & upon his inspection, he still had a grin on his face, so I guess that means it passed! He used it right away, & he said it did great, & that he loves how small it is to carry. Since it's relatively new, we can't speak to the long-term durability yet, but it has the look & feel of a quality well-made product, so at this point, we give it 5 hooks up! :-)

Had a small issue with first order and the company was wonderful correcting it. This pole has a good feel to it, highly functional in being so portable and is right on weight for a 5wt rod. Hard to beat the value of this rod especially with great customer service!
