Product Description

high performance urethane round belting
High-Performance Urethane Round Belting

  • PU round belt is also called polyurethane round belt. It is usually made of PU. PU is the abbreviation of Polyurethane. The name is polyurethane for short. It has been widely used to replace glass fiber insulation materials, wood, and traditional rubber products.
  • Polyurethane round belts (surface split surface and rough surface) are long-sized transmission belts, which are characterized by heat welding, which can be simply joined together, which is very convenient to use. The section has no core and no directionality, so it can be used in multi-axis transmission and complex transmission that can change direction at will.
PU Transmission Round Belt

  • Round belts are generally divided into smooth round belts and rough round belts:
  • The round light band is orange, and the round rough noodle band is dark green. The surface of the light belt has good surface finish and bright color; the rough belt has rough surface, uniform particles, comfortable hand feeling, and wide application range.
PU Transmission Round Belt

  1. Preparation tools: electric soldering iron/lighter, scissors, grinding wheel.
  2. The electric soldering iron is energized and the temperature reaches 150-180 degrees. Then put the two ends of the round belt on the soldering iron until the round belt is heated. (Lighter can be used instead of electric soldering iron.)
  3. After the two ends of the round belt are heated, connect the two ends. Be careful not to let it go immediately after docking, you need to wait for the round belt to cool and condense before letting go (hold it for about one minute, the better the temperature control, the stronger the connection).
  4. Trimming is usually done with a small grinding wheel, or trimming with scissors.

Take a utility knife blade (AKA box cutter blade) like ASIN B015W3AKDQ from Amazon. Clamp one end of the blade in a vice or vice-grip pliers (see picture) and heat the utility knife blade to red hot. Place one end of the length of belting against one side of the hot blade and the other end of the belting against the opposite side. Slide both ends of the belting off the hot blade so they touch and fuse. Hold for a minute or two until the joint cools and then carefully trim the joint.

I have a small motor that needed a fan belt and the belt was no longer available. This allowed me to make my own by cutting it to length, and then fusing the ends by running both ends over the opposite sides of a thin steel plate and fusing them together as they cleared the plate. I heated the plate using a propane torch until it was red, and no direct fire was needed for the fusion of the ends. It works fine and I have more than enough left over to replace it if it breaks as the original did.

I was a little nervous about "ease of welding" claim but it worked just fine. I was building a drum carder for my daughter. My setup:razor blade in vise gripsplywood with hole slightly bigger than beltmounted both in bench clampheated razor until red with torchpressed belt to both sides of razorput each side into plywood hole and pushed together for 1 mincut away plywoodTook me 3 tries to get it damn near perfect. Make sure the joint ends are perfectly 90 degrees.

Glad I discovered this stuff. I created a couple of belts for 2 old movie projectors. Melted the cuts together with an old soldering iron with a spade tip. Tested for strength & was impressed with the solidity. I made a little jig to hold the ends together but in the end just lining them up by eye (with good magnification ) would work fine. The slight bulge after fusing the ends together can be trimmed with an exacto & fine sandpaper.

✔ Fantastic for custom belts. I could not believe the ease and durability & traction this belting has. I felt as if I'd been in the dark ages trying to modify my machinery pulley configurations to match a premade belt......no more!!!!! True freedom for customization when smaller sized dia belts needed, why I waited this long I'll never know. Do not hesitate with this belting! Game changer 💯💥👍

This stuff is so fricking fun to use. I made belts for junk that doesn't use belts???? Really???Yes. My bench grinders do not need belts but I lined up three bench grinders back to back and made a belt to go from one powered up unit (AFTER it's set up) to the bench grinder behind it.The first grinder was easily able to spin both grinders simply by wrapping the belt around each 1/2" shaft melting the ends together, then powering on the first grinder.I WAS AMAZED! It really worked. the belts did not get loose and they did not break???? I ran it for 30 minutes and not a single damn problem. Why can't everything work like this.Great stuff. I'll keep it around my shop always now.
