Why a Power Sequencer ?
The RS-4's power sequencer spreads the initial inrush current of your gear over four steps allowing you to power up far more gear, more safely than ever before. Consolidating all your gear and or your band"s gear into a single RS-4 will lower noise and reduce exposure to ground loops.
Stop that annoying "POP."
The golden rule is to "Always turn your main amp on last, and turn it off first" to avoid the potentially destructive loud "POP." The RS-4 simply does this automatically, powering all your equipment up or down in the proper sequence, every time. You can independently adjust on and off delay sequence from 1-15 seconds and choose one of four power sequencer modes of operation. Standard Mode, Instant On Mode, Receptacle One Always On Mode, Timer Mode.
Start with Standard Mode were you can independently adjust on and off delay sequence from 1-15 seconds. Choose from one of the four sequence modes of operation:
Instant On
When AC power is applied to the RS-4, the unit will immediately begin the On Delay Sequence. This is useful in a stage or studio environment where the RS-4 may not be the main power switch but you still want the instant on convenience of a conventional power strip but with the added advantages of the power sequencer.
Receptacle One Always On
In this mode, receptacle one will always be on while the On/Off Delay Sequence for the three remaining receptacles can be set from 1-15 seconds and engaged with the footswitch. This mode is useful to keep any piece of gear on continously, like a computer or a light.
Timer Mode
The unit will automatically shut off power sequentially after a designated number of hours, determined by the on and off delay setting. This mode works well in the studio to autmoatically power down gear at the end of the day or when you forget.

Very easy to set up, instructions were very clear. Power conditioner works brilliantly. Surge protection provides peace of mind. The EMI filters definitely lower the noise floor. My gear is save, conveniently and safely powered by this device, and it makes everything (to my ears) sound better. 5 Stars.

This is a very nice product. Program modes are easy to access, device works exactly as described. The power up/down sequencing is very handy. Build quality is excellent. I also appreciate the long power cord. Eco friendly packing is a nice touch. User manual is easy to follow and allows you to get the most out of the features and modes.Thank you Kimball Magee for making a great product and for your help and support with the questions I had while prior to my purchasing the RS-4!

I would not recommend this product to any serious musician/gamerI'm in a local cover band, we're running the following equipment, Yamaha 600BT StagePas Portable PA (with 2 mics), Blackstar HT20 Tubed Amp, Blackstar HT40 Tubed Amp, Fender Bass BXR 60watt Solid-State Amp, a Roland TD50 Kit with one Electro-Voice ZLX-12P. Basically this whole rig tops out around a 500 person venue, we play mostly bars, large restaurants, and smaller outdoor venues. In total, 6 items are plugged in, this power strip has 8 outlets total.I assumed this power strip would be great with the surge protector built in, it also turns the outlets on in different sequences so you don't get popping out of your amps, you also don't get any feedback or hiss. So honestly the thing is built really well on the exterior, solid steel all around, the buttons are strong, the actual electrical input really holds the plugs in place, you don't get any slipping.However, the power strip will trip out all the time. I've used it at two different shows, and both shows the RS-4 power strip will just trip out and our entire rig will go down. Obviously this isn't a good look, and we've been talked to by both booking agents about this. I showed them this product, and both were shocked that for this price, it would shut down mid-show. Maybe I got a defective one? But I would tell anyone out there gigging, do not use this power strip live. It's too much of a risk that could hurt your relationships with venues.I would however, recommend that you go with this product, Furman Power Conditioner (SS6B) .........$34This I would say, is the best power strip/surge protector I've ever used. It is equally as well built, and has NEVER tripped out. Even when I plug our entire rig into it. It only has 6 outlets, so when we plug in, we are maxing it out. This power conditioner also helps stabilize the electrical current flowing into the power strip, giving your rig a more stable wave length, it also blocks out EMI and RFI noise. All this simply means is, you are getting a really excellent quality sound all the time, and it never shuts down. I've used this Furman for years, and the only reason I was looking for a new power strip, is the Furman SS6B, only comes in a 6-outlet setup. I am hoping they eventually make a 12-outlet. For all the great the Furman does, it comes in at $34. That is WAY more cost efficient than $300 price tag of the RS-4.Also, I'm a very serious gamer, when I'm not gigging or working, I'm playing video games. I tried this RS-4 for my gaming computer with 3 screens, and same thing, it trips out. So playing competitive online gaming is near impossible. I again would recommend the FurmanSS6B. If you need, just buy two of them, it will cost you about $68, and will still out perform this RS-4 which costs almost 5x as much as 2 Furmans.I really wanted to like this product and was super excited with the quality of the external build, but the internal components are just too poor of quality to be worth $300, when there are options 1/10 of the price and out perform it greatly. Please save yourself the money, and if anyone has more questions on my experience with this product please post, I will happily answer. I don't want to hurt this company and their ability to make money, but I am always on the look out to help musicians, and this is a HUGE waste of money. For $300 you can buy 2 FurmanSS6Bs, and get yourself a few nice pedals, or upgrade to a nice mic or something. Do not over invest in this product.

For $300, the "pop" when I turn on my rig isnt THAT annoying. Its a cool concept but wayyyyy over priced.

Although I work in the guitar industry, I only play at home now for enjoyment and occasional recording with a multi-amp system - an Axe-Fx rig connected to two powered monitors and a tube amp rig with the standard array of pedals. I use the Radial Twin City ABY box to switch between the two rigs or play both at the same time for a truly massive sound. The Radial box gets rid of the ground loop but I was still hearing some EFI/RMI beating noises through tube amp rig when both rigs were on at the same time.Convinced that it was electrical-related, I decided to give the Rockn Stompn RS-4 unit a try. The thing is well built and the ability to turn the amps and the other devices in front of the amps on and off in the proper order is really, really cool. It's not something I was even thinking about as I was mainly looking into getting rid of the annoying electrical noise. But this is definitely a very cool feature because even after all these years of experience, I sometimes forget to turn the amps off first and curse at myself as I hear the pop coming through the amps. So I am very happy about this.But after setting it up and digging that feature, it was time to see if the noise can be eliminated. I connected the Axe-Fx rack and the monitors to the RS-4 as the tube amp rig was connected to an outlet at the other side of the room. The noise level was significantly lower but it was still there on the tube amp if I put my ears next to the speaker cabinet. So I turned everything off and then jiggled things around to connect the tube amp's power cord to the RS-4 and - voila! - the noise is now completely gone. I had a feeling that this would do it and I can't be happier now.This is one of the best investments a guitar player can make. You put a lot of time and effort putting together your ideal rig and the power source can often be an afterthought or not even considered. I highly recommend this device to all guitar players. This certainly isn't a matter of personal taste like one's choice of a guitar, pickups, amp or overdrive pedal. This protects your valuable gear, is very convenient to use, and cleans up your sound. This is one of the best guitar gear purchases I've ever made. Seems expensive at first but I say this is a bargain. It's really that good.
