The screws are self drilling so no need for drill bits, make sure you get a paint scraper to cleanup the area if you have one installed already and some caulking to seal it all up. Easy installation, I just wish they included something to cut the inside plastic. Other than that it works great and keeps things cool.

(Note: Update below first comment)We were so excited about upgrading our fan with this one. We connected it everything was great. The lid opened, the fan worked, the remote control was awesome!!! We thought this was going to be great for our trip in January ( we bought this about 4 months ago) but then unfortunately the lid won't open or close. Not happy at all. Here i am not even half way through our trip and the lid won't open or close. For now the fan works but to open and close we have to donit by hand and it isn't easy, it extremely frustrating. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. I'm so disappointed. If I could I would return it but it's too late for me.Update:We were about to remove then put back, that seemed to reset the system. The fan and lip is working great for now. Customer service did reached out to me and I truly appreciate that. Although I got to the system working again, it's great they were willing to help solve the problem. I say that's excellent customer service.

My rv is on a 30 amp site. Using the micro/kettle etc during cooking means I need to switch off the a/c. I fitted one of these units to take the heat out. Also I'm a short guy and have to stretch to open the fixed vent. This really does shift the air. Having the remote control makes it so easy to change speeds/change from in or out.Any little things to do with the operation of the unit would be my personal preferences. It would be nice if......Easy to fit. Watch a few youtube videos and take your time. I fitted this as a vent replacement so there was no power to it. I just fished the power lead from the light fitting, just remember the polarity!!..The remotes are linked to each unit. (At least they are on mine).

Tested okay out of the box. I did not test the rain detector as the vent will be under a cover. The motor that raises and lowers the lid seems to respond to amperage and stops when it encounters an obstacle (such as the cover). My Westland truck camper had access to wiring for a power vent; with some difficulty, I was able to fish the wires through the small hole provided. However, installation had minor issues.1. This unit is exactly 14" square and the space for the old vent was 14.25" square. The new vent fit with no problem...except that there was no room for the wiring. I had to use my jig saw to cut off about 1/4" of wood to make room for the wires.2. The wires on this fan exit opposite the hinges; the power from the camper comes in from the hinge side. So I had to disassemble the fan, drill a new exit hole in the plastic housing, and re-route the wires. A couple of small zip ties to hold the wiring in place and all was good. On the plus side, the fan housing was easy to remove and reassemble.Connect the wiring, test, all good. The rest of the installation went smoothly. Butyl tape, screws, and lap sealant. Cut down the interior cover and install.Used it on a five-day trip and it functioned perfectly. My favorite function is that shutting off power on the remote closes the lid and stops the fan.

Nice unit and the only reason for 4 stars is that i just installed it today jun 22/24 and do not know how it will hold up. A moderate price at 239.95 but the last one i bought for another 5th wheel at another place a week ago was 179.99. Perhaps waiting till year end might find a more suitable price range if looking.Replaced a manual crank vent. Ran a 12v power line from a light in my closet 30" away (not on a switch). Hardest part of the install was taking the old one out. Now for those that have discovered this unit opens "far" and a normal vent cover will not work (use a vent cover to prevent wind from destroying your lid) The only vent cover I can find that might work is the Ventmate 67313 (15" tall) for those that are looking and it only has a front vent and is not accessible to clean the Fan or under the cover once installed or for repairs without a lot of work but as stated dont go without a vent cover. Wind will cost you.One last thing I discovered was that Yes you can set the height of the lid when opening (if you chose to use a normal low vent cover (9-10"), you Can manually set the lid to open only to vent cover height. 1-you open the vent lid by pressing remote or button UP, 2)-once it reaches the height you want, hit the up button again and it will stop right there, turn your fan to either in or out and set your fan speed and off ya go. Always Remember though you have to do this each and every time you open your vent if using a normal or low vent cover. If you dont stop the lid, you will burn out the fan motor as it will continue to try to open to full height so dont forget.Travel on and great camping.UPDATE1 Months in the RVLOVENT Fan is fantastic and highly do recommend but my comment of the about the Ventmate 67313 I do not. As describe by the Manufacturer "Ventmate", their description is WRONG and very deceiving by the company. It states it is 15" tall when in fact is is only 10" and as all standard vents are. The issue is all of the distributors they sell their product to rely on the manufacturer for a proper description of their product and in faith the distributors include this in the distributors advertising. Well from my costly new found knowledge and the fact I made a fool of myself by believing the posted description and stating in my comment above, Its WRONG.RVLOVENT though is a great fan and will purchase more.

RVLovent 10 speed remote controlled bathroom fan installed on my Keystone Springdale 202QBWE travel trailer. It's a perfect fit to replace the "OEM" vent/fan, and fits right into the 14" opening. The 4" fan that came with the trailer couldn't vent a PC case, much less do anything to move air in a travel trailer. I'm not sorry to hurl the OG fan into the trash. In my test runs since installing the RVLovent fan it does pull powerfully, and it is quiet! I am surprised at how quiet it really is. The ten speeds are listed in the remote as a percentage, and the fan itself has a color LED that changes for each of the ten speeds, which I thought was cool. Can't use this with a MAXXAIR cover though - the motorized hatch will not clear the cover - it opens up wide - which is a bummer for leaving the hatch open in breezes or where debris might get in to the fan itself. As other reviewers have noted, the there isn't any way of preventing leaves, dirt, or damage to the fan or hatch while it's open, which is the one strike against it. The instruction manual is basic (par for the course, complete with translation misspellings) and the remote design is...interesting... but it works well.Installation isn't that hard, just a bit tedious but possible if you have tools, and are handy. It's totally worth the effort!TOOLS NEEDED:Nylon scraping toolWAGO connectors (2), 3 portButyl TapeWire cutter/stripperSquare bit driver (Keystone hardware requirement), preferably on a power drillPhillips screwdriverDICOR, self leveling sealant tubes (2)Caulking gun for DICORPlastic cutting implementINSTRUCTIONS:Begin inside the TT. Use square bit driver to remove four trim screws from ceiling bezel. Pull bezel and set aside. Use Phillips screwdriver to remove hatch knob, and then snap out the inner trim panel. It will hang by two wires that are connected to your 12v source. Cut off the crimped on wire nuts, and load the TT wires into your WAGO connectors. White is (-), red is (+). This will free up the inner trim panel now for removal.Access the TT roof, *usual safety lecture here* and begin scraping DICOR from the metal mounting bracket using your nylon scraping tool. CAREFUL - it's easy to gouge the EPDM. A sunny day helps, it makes the DICOR tacky. You want to expose the screws holding the OEM fan to your roof deck.Remove all 28 screws, and try not to think about all of the holes that are in your roof. Gently pull each side, using your nylon scraper to assist the DICOR in letting go. The vent fan should pull free if you are careful. Set aside old vent fan. (picture)RVLovent provides their own hardware with the fan, but I chose to reuse the Keystone square drive screws since they were previously in the roof. Unfortunately, the new fan holes don't line up with the original ones. More holes - that's great. The RVLovent uses 16 screws. I began by sinking screws at each corner, and working my way inward to ensure a flat mounting. Ensure all screws are snug. The new fan is FAR more powerful and quiet than the original. Time will tell as far as longevity but this is better than a HENGS I installed in my old Jayco, which was solid but basic and noisy. The remote is a bonus for the Mrs. who is too short to reach the ceiling mounted controls... I haven't tested the rain sensing function yet but in the limited usage of the fan so far I am very pleased with the upgrade.

I have an '09 motorhome that had the original fans. They were hard to crank open and were loud and whiny. I replaced all 4 with these. You can control with the buttons on the fan or with the remote. The fan has 10 speeds, and it gets slightly louder with each speed. It's basically silent up to 40%, and a moderate fan sound at 100%. It's highest speed is still much quieter than my previous fans. The rain sensor works great, as long as you remember to turn it on. It comes with an extra screen, so now I have 4 extra screens. The white-lidded fans block out light entirely. The smoke fans are like tinted glass - you can see through and it brightens the room, but it's not super bright. I went with white on 3 fans to reflect light/heat, but I like looking through the one tinted fan way better.

When my Fantastic fan died on me, I had to find a replacement. Looked for rv exhaust fan for installation in my bathroom. Went through all the product offering and happened upon this unit. Price was more than reasonable and had favorable reviews....so I bought one.Just finished installing today and ran through all the features. The fan handles a lot of air. The 16 screw holes in the fan (from the roof side) matched up with the Fantastic fan as well as the 4 screws on the interior cover. The installation went through without a hitch. At this point, I'm very pleased. If I had to be critical, it would be that the fan opens too wide and I can't use the cover. I read somewhere where someone fabricated a bracket that would allow a cover to be used, but I'm not going to go to that trouble. Works fine...I'll just have to get used to making sure the rain closing system is activated.
