Very happy with this purchase. I got burnt once buying a 5th wheel with too much pin weight when loaded and had to upgrade an almost new 3/4 ton truck with a 1 ton dually. I wanted to verify that I was not exceeding my new 1/2 ton truck towing specs with a new travel trailer I just purchased. I loaded my new travel trailer and recorded the weight of all cargo items and whether it was located forward of the axles or toward the rear of the axles. I placed the 2 point weight distribution hitch and arms on the front tongue and added 5 gals of water to the holding tank located front of the axles. I added the weight of the cargo located front of the axles plus the weight of the water located front of the axles, plus the weight of the 2-point hitch plus the manufactures published tongue weight of 590 lbs dry and it resulted in 905 lbs. (calculated). I chocked the wheels and made sure the trailer was level. To get the scale to the same height as where the top of the ball would be towing a level trailer, I would need 2- 2x6"s laid flat under the scale. I jacked the trailer up, slid the scale and the 2x6's under and lowered the tongue slowly. It read 900 lbs., repeating this process 3 times. My truck has a maximum tongue weight rating of 920 lbs. for conventional towing, so you can see the importance of checking this. I would recommend that if you are buying a towable RV or any type of trailer you spend the 100 bucks for one of these and get the peace of mind that you are rolling down the road within your vehicles capabilities. Do the math first and then check the actual weight to verify. You may need to move cargo or in my case limit how much water that can be put in the forward holding tank when traveling.

I was unsure how accurate this scale was. I moved somethings out of my front storage area and my tongue weight went up. Returned to Amazon.

Love the 'mechanical' not digital design of this unit. It's intuitive to use, and first time found out my rv tongue weight was 200 lbs high! The readout on the bar shaft is legible, and clearly marked.I chose this unit over the other wacky devices for its simplicity and ease of use. It works. And it's reasonably priced compared to a lot of other tongue weight scale devices out there, and less complex.Would buy again.

As far as I can tell it is accurate and helpful. (CHOCK YOUR WHEELS BEFORE USE).

The one gripe i have with this is that the base is so narrow you get negligible stability out of it. you have to be really careful that there is no possibility of the tongue moving laterally while you engage this.but otherwise, it's excellent. Pretty foolproof design, not any more complexity than necessary.

This is a good tool to help you see how much tongue weight you are placing on your truck. It is easy to use, very self explanatory. The markings are only on one side of the scale, so make sure it is facing where you can read it. Most importantly, make sure your trailer is chalked before you try weighing the tongue.
