Comes with an extra replacement tip. No space inside to store the line, but it's a handy spot for the extra tip until ya need it. Good quality brass.

Solid brass plumb bob, well machined threads, and a replacement tip included. At 16 oz, I don't expect that it will move much in the wind.

16oz version. Magnet adheres to steel tip (as expected) but not the brass body (also as expected). Threads all machined very well and centered. Does not come with a string. Does come with one replacement tip.

The product arrived on time and was as advertised. Just keep in mind that the rope has to be purchased separately.

My old iron plumb bob disappeared over a year ago and never turned up. I finally got around to look for a replacement. read the reviews and ordered this one brass one. For it's low price the machining is flawless and with it's weight it hangs perfectly straight; exactly what a plumb bob is supposed to do. It is great.

Beautifully machined brass that works much better than the rock on a string I used to use. Buying a real plumb bob seemed like an extravagance until I needed to find the center of mass on a 24 inch round table top I bought from Lowes. I suspended from three points along the circumference and dropped a plumb line from each point. Marked the intersection then tested by balancing the top on a nail head. Worked beautifully. The shape of the bob made it settle very quickly. The point made it easy to see when it had stopped swaying by comparing with a mark on the floor.Choosing the 16 oz size for this application made the string taut enough that I could mark it without a lot of deviation. Attaching the string was easy, it would have been nice if it was included in the package.

nothing much to say here. It makes things plumb. and i like that the top tip screws off so you can knot up a string and put it in.

As I mentioned in my headline this plumb bob is heavy and also comes to a point. These are the two main attributes I look for when making such a large purchase of a single plumb bob. It comes with a replaceable tip for when you wear this mother out. And I am sure you won't lose the tip before you need it, being it is of a natural grey steel color. It will stick out in your toolbox I'm sure. Maybe it fits under the cap wouldn't that be convenient. I haven't measured the accuracy of this thing but either I am no good at math or this plumb bob hangs approx 15 degrees off center. I have had other plumb bobs and even made my own once in shop class. Actually it was a pipe I was going to sell to the stoners but the teacher caught me so I quickly tapped it then made a point for it so he didn't confiscated it and smoke an ounce with my hard work.

First off, I don't really understand how you could rate this at anything less than 5 stars, because it does exactly what it is designed to do and it comes with everything listed in the description. Actually, it even came with a SECOND hardened steel tip as well! The one I received looks exactly like the main picture, not the customer's picture. I guess they may have made two subtley different shapes, but it doesn't matter to me, because I bought this tool to use as a plumb bob. My only disappointment is that the plumb bob I received was Made in Taiwan, so if you're looking for tools that are Made in USA, this probably isn't what you're looking for.It hangs perfectly vertical, and that's all it needs to do. The package even helps you out with a little picture showing how to tie a good knot in your string to attach it. The top unthreads, you pull your line through the hole, tie the knot it shows, and thread the top back on. I think this 16oz plumb bob is way better than the little 8oz ones they seem to sell almost exclusively at most home improvement/hardware stores. It hangs straight and settles very quickly to accomplish everything you need a plumb bob for. The only reason to get a heavier one is if you do a lot of big projects outdoors in high winds, in which case you probably don't need an Amazon review to tell you what plumb bob to get. ;^)If you need some line, I'd recommend which comes with a handy reel and line level and is Made in USA. If you're using a plumb bob, you're sure to have other reasons to have some dry line [mason's line] handy anyways!
