The fire-retardant plastic material allows for the mounting of network equipment, without blocking RF/Wi-Fi connection. Ideal for new installations or retrofits that include equipment for data networks, phone systems, video extension setups, audio systems, and security devices. The Network Device Enclosure features five knockouts on the top and three on the bottom, along with included hook-and-loop straps and plastic hooks, to ensure organized management of components and cables. The enclosure supports up to 22lbs (10kg) worth of equipment. The media enclosure can be installed on a wall and can be surface mounted or recessed by mounting between wall studs. It is lightweight and can be installed by one person with keyhole mounting holes.

I just moved into a new house, and wanted to use this cabinet to install a centralized networking enclosure. Unfortunately for my purposes, this new house has 24" separating the studs, and this enclosure is built for 16" studs. Other than this oversight by me, I would be using this for my home network hub, and I won't remove any of the rating because I got the wrong sized item.

I have installed many of these structured media enclosures, so this one from StarTech.com caught my eye to try out. This is pretty standard, 28 inch medium sized and fits in a 16 oc stud bay. It can be installed new construction or retrofit. It is all plastic and similar to other all plastic enclosures I have worked with. The door contains ventilation holes for the contents to breathe. This is a kit which comes with two shelves, grommets and some straps, which is pretty nice. Overall no issues and seems like a good quality enclosure.
