The display of this thermometer is easy to read. The thermometer is described as being 9 inches long; it is actually 12 inches. The length makes it top-heavy and unstable when clipped to the side of a pot unless the pot is very tall.

I would give this product 5 stars if the clip that comes with the thermometer worked better with medium sized pots. On the one hand, the thermometer itself is very useful, but when the clip gives up and the thermometer flips around, and you need to catch and reposition it in the 410-degree pot of oil you are working with, your heart can skip a few beats.

Works great. I just received and have used once in my new deep fryer filled with 3 inches of oil. Helped me zero in on the accurate temperature since the dial on the fryer is in 10 degree increments.

Yes, it truly does have a 12" stem (picture angle is somewhat decpeptive).Great for deep frying pots; a little difficult to use with shallow pots. Note: manufacturer recommends tip being immersed in at least 2-1/2" of oil for an accurate reading. You may not have that depth of oil in a shallow pot.Appears to work great, though.For deep frying turkeys it would be great.
