I've been usuing these for school to practice my sutures. They are great quality. The tips are smaller, more delicate in comparison to some others. But overall great quality and perfect for what I need them for. Would recommend.

I am a board-certified general surgeon. This needle driver is of the same quality we use in operating rooms. LIkely the reason the cost is lower is because it is marketed towards veterinary offices and/or dental offices (not sure why they should be less expensive in those environments, though). It is high quality, durable, and well-made. I'm often asked by medical students, "Which suture kit should I purchase?" Well, I haven't found any good KITS, but if you want to piece a kit together, buy this driver and a quality pair of forceps.

Very nicely made needle drivers, and inexpensive for practice, they make me want to improve at handling them.

These things are great. I bought them on a whim and didn’t think they would be anything special. I do a lot of soldering, modeling, and general engineering. These have become one of my favorite tools. They hold everything I can think to use them on, and they hold extremely well. The carbide jaws will grab anything, and when holding delicate things it’s important to be gentle with them, because the forceps will definitely dig in. I prefer these over tweezers or needle nose pliers. They are very accommodating.

I bought this needle holder because I am a medical student practicing suturing. I bought a suturing kit that came with a needle holder, but it was terrible (the clasping mechanism didn't work). These needle holders work great and I can tell they are much higher quality than the other ones based on the finish and feel. Would highly recommend for medical students.

I’m 100% satisfied with zero complaints—from someone whom went to school for surgical technology. This needle driver’s finish is great, the fine tipped jaws are perfectly in-line, and the ratchet is incredible with only needing the first click. I highly recommend these for anyone needing to drive a needle or set a knife blade onto a knife handle.

Perfect for a student or someone wanting to learn to suture. Much better quality than most of the needle drivers I have come across at a similar price range. As a lefty I needed a better quality pair to practice with so I wasn’t tearing up my hand. They are not OR grade but they hold the needle nicely and open and close smoother than most. I didn’t see them in a shorter length but it would be slightly better for learning with than these ones. Overall, if you are a student these are all you need.

I have 5 other hemostats that i use for electronics, but since those touch Lead-based solder, I needed a new set for BBQ chicken prep. These are much better built than the $2-3 sets i already had - I notice minimal flexing of the handles when under a lot of tension, and no flex in the jaws themselves. The fit and finish is perfect, and these have worked out quite well for me so far.

Very smooth action, high-grade feel, good size for practice. Seem to be pretty durable, I have carried them around in my white coat practicing every day with them for 6 months and they are just now feeling ever so slightly loose, but I would say they are just broken-in. Only knock is the price. Most of these instruments come from the same source, and it isn't Germany, given how hard it is for hospitals to even find surgical instruments that aren't falsely labeled with "CE Germany". I would try and acquire instruments by politely asking a surg tech how to get ahold of some or buying a cheaper set on Amazon.

Nice, especially for the price. I bought these for practicing suturing in my vet school surgery class. The tungsten carbide inserts are super grippy- no more dropped suture! Also, no light shines through when holding up to check jaw occlusion and they open and close very smoothly. The metal is polished (German stainless steel) and they look like they cost way more than $17. My only issue is that I thought that they were the wider type of needle holder, these are not appropriate for medium-heavy needles that we typically use. Better for more delicate work. I will have to get another heavier pair but will hang on to these for sure.
