A lot of good ideas here, that fall short in functionality. If you want to use this with Bluetooth, forget it. The latency is unusable. Its function as a midi controller is limited. My six year old was bored almost immediately.

Writing this shortly after getting it and trying it.If you are looking for a MIDI Controller and EWI, then the DF10 is worthy of consideration. The MIDI works in FLStudio, FLStudio Mobile, Magix Music Maker, and OpenMPT via USB.However, Bluetooth connectivity does not seem to work. Diagnosing the issue between Android and PC - it seems to connect/pair, but doesn't function. Do not buy this model for Bluetooth connectivity, because I suspect some carelessness in design is at fault.OYAYO doesn't seem to have a product website with support; so if you buy this, you are on your own.Overall: Between the very common Carry-On EWI, the DF10, and Something like the Roland or AKAI EWIs, this one is a big compromise on function to value, but definitely could use improvement to be a more solid choice at its price point.Suggestions for manufacturer:- Add a Bluetooth Connectivity button and indicator: Blue and orange, just like most other bluetooth devices.- Add a means for updating product firmware, if any.

Long ago after my parents transferred me to public schools, from my Catholic school due to expenses. I missed out by a year where the students were introduced to the song flute or recorder, I think it's called. I had to sit in study hall while I listened to the other students practice their scales on the Bakelite flutes. Later students were given suggested instruments that the students could choose and practice with. For the jam sessions, I was given either sand blocks or a tambourine. My dad has an organ at home, but he couldn't really play it was just a vanity buy from a slick salesman. I leaned a few songs but was not very good. I still wax sentimental over missing out on those song fluted hearing the scales playing in the back of my head. This thing is really cool, not only can I play the recorder, but it has a bunch of other instruments it can imitate. The speaker is a little limited, but it's still pretty good. A lot more than I ever expected in an electronic flute. Generally, imitating other instruments seems to have been the action of keyboards, but it's interesting to see it in a wind instrument combined with an electronic synthesizer. Maybe this should replace that old Bakelite song flute the kids had back then. It might help them choose their instruments of choice afterward if they get to hear the sounds. I'm still not very good, but I love to experiment. Recommended.

I’m a guitarist and have zero training with wind instruments, so this is a complete novice’s perspective.Creating music is a passion and I enjoy exploring other methods / interfaces for virtual instruments. Was excited to see how this would function as a midi instrument. The short answer is: works great wired but the latency when used wirelessly makes recording to a beat tricky. Your breath controls velocity, so you can be quite expressive with it. Tested with a laptop and Logic as the DAW.As a standalone instrument it works really well, gets plenty loud for practice and smaller performances. Headphone out for silent practice is handy to save those around you from listening to the inevitable cacophony you produce as you’re starting out!The fingerings are laid out in the included booklet, which is super handy.Fingering the notes can be tricky (as on a traditional instrument) but I found that you had to be especially careful not to let your fingers accidentally touch the incorrect button; even the slightest skin contact triggers the notes. The quality of the instrument sounds vary (in terms of how much they sound like the instrument they claim to be) but overall were pretty good. Especially liked the panpipes and bamboo flute! You have control over the amount of reverb, so the notes don’t have to be totally “dry” or without ambience (unless you want that). It’s VERY lightweight. I was genuinely surprised when handling the box and then the instrument itself. Should be easy for younger players, the only limitation would be finger size / length. I think it’s aimed at young teens or older.Comes with a couple of rubber mouthpieces for hygiene - I let my son use one. It’s not a cheap instrument but it’s pretty unique and works really well.If the latency when used wirelessly could be reduced this would be 5 stars. But needing to be tethered to fully utilize midi control loses it a star.
