It is insulated and seems as it will help to prevent freezing in the back flow preventer. A bit large but will work.

The cover is larger than I wanted but it was closest I could find to cover my backflow pipe. It seems durable enough to protect the pipes from weather extremes but time will tell. It has a strong Velcro closure at the bottom with two holes which allowed me to lock it.

First off, this is a well made cover. First class material and sized as advertised. Stitching is heavy duty and consistent. Insulation appears to be substantial also. One thing I would suggest is to remember this is like a giant envelope so make sure when ordering your size to pay attention to the fact you will loose a tiny bit of height based on width of your setup. Mine was 15" from the ground and it fit perfectly, granted I do have just a basic back flow for my sprinkler system.

Not a whole lot to say other than this works as one would expect it to. It covers my irrigation control valve, and where I live I am sure it will keep it plenty insulated. If you live somewhere where it is regularly under freezing temperatures in the winter time, you should be looking for something with more insulation ability than this.

I live in the South Texas, where we get at least 2-3 hard freezes each year. To protect my sprinkler valve assembly in preparation of a freeze, my ritual has been to drain water from the system, then grab an old moving blanket, drape it over the valve assembly, fold it as best I can, then wrap rope around it to hold it in place. It's a cumbersome method, and is certainly not water/snow-proof, but fortunately it's been effective. This Urby 5-layer insulated backflow valve cover is so much more convenient. I wouldn't describe it as a mock landscape boulder as is has no resemblance to a rock, but it is a rugged multi-layered bag that is certainly up to the task of protecting the sprinkler valve assembly. The gray-colored, outer woven shell is thick and durable, quite capable of standing up to the elements, and I like that it's waterproof. That it stands up to UV rays should help provide for it's longevity. The walls of the cover feel thick enough to provide good insulation, and the stitching that holds the layers together looks quite robust. What I didn't expect is the strong Velcro closure at the bottom that will help secure it around my pipes. Then there are two ringlets through which a cord can be secured to help keep it in place. The 24-inch width is more than enough to cover my valve assembly. At 30 inches height, it doesn't quite cover my whole backflow piping, so I'll need to re-insulate the base of the pipes that remain exposed (my weed eater does damage to the insulation). If it were any longer though, the Velcro would get dirty and not adhere as well, so it's a good fit.I've had friends and neighbors that have had their backflow valves freeze and burst. What a nightmare. To help prevent that from happening, this is a convenient, well-made piece of insulation that I'm glad to have for the next time I encounter a hard freeze. Recommended.

Unfortunately, it came much smaller than promised and do not fit. While the product itself seems functional, the sizing issue is disappointing and has made it worthless. To manufacture: do better! we trust you and your sizing, it falls short!
