Forscan is a must for programming this to work. I bought this in the dead cold of the winter because I got tired of getting into a cold truck every morning at 5am. I wish I bought this years ago. Took only 30 minutes to install and programing was a breeze. There are youtube tutorials if you are unsure how to program yourself. No need to buy the $300 kit from ford or pay them another $300 to install and program

Just got a 2013 Ford F150 without the remote start on my keys. Found this kit and figured I would try it. After some research I found out I needed to buy a OBD2 USB adapter and sign up for a trial if FORscan to enable the remote start in my vehicle. (plenty of YouTube videos out there for all these steps)First thing is you will need to get the keys cut. Home Depot and Lowes would not do it for me. I got mine cut at my local Ace Hardware store for $3.99 each. It's much easier if you have 2 keys already programed (otherwise you will need to program them with FORscan software I believe)After you get the keys cut, you need to program the key to the ignition. And then you can program the buttons on the keys to unlock/lock etc. These are 2 different programing steps. After that I installed the antenna behind the glove box area. I got a 2-month trial license to FORscan full software and an OBD2 USB cable. You need to program 2 areas in the software. One, is to enable the remote start module, and the other is to give you the options in the cluster settings menu, such as duration and what you want to do with heat / AC.Overall, not plug-in play, but if you do you research you will find plenty of helpful videos online to help you.

So i know there are complete reviews out there on this process, because it is a process, but it works out in the end. I had originally bought a 490.00 ford factory kit that would come with cut keys but it would still need to be programmed. That kit never arrived and I am glad I found this kit as its much cheaper. So back to the process..... I received this kit and took the keys to Home Depot and got the 2 new keys cut for 10 bucks. I then went through the programming steps to first program the keys and then program the key fob buttons. These are 2 different steps and there are plenty of YOUTUBE videos to show you how this is accomplished. You also have to change the settings in the vehicles OBD settings. You will need a laptop with the latest FORSCAN software installed. Once again there are some good videos on YOUTUBE to help with this. Once you have the remote start feature enabled in the vehicle computer settings you are good to go. Remember this is a process but it works and for the money you can't beat it. Only issues is the range of the remote is not good but I can still get it to work from inside the house. Also, you have to hit the lock button and then the remote start button 3 times not 2. Not sure why this is and others have commented on this as well.

Install was super easy, programmed with ForScan. Keys could be better, definitely not OEM quality but other than that it’s nice to have!

Keys programmed fine but one issue is you have to hit the remote start button three times not two times for it to start the truck. 2016 f350 my hook up location for the module was in the roof liner driver side not the glove box. Ford dealer charged me 150.00 to program and I installed.

Keys work to start truck but not able to use buttons for door locks or remote start. Even had ford master techs look at it and could not get it to work.Edit, On the plus side they was very helpful and gave me a full refund of product. but still don't recommend for the fact the key fobs didn't work.

tl;dr - Works great. Minor QC issues (one remote dead on arrival, but quickly replaced by the seller). Instructions are missing some key steps, but there are plenty of guides online. No obvious way to reach the seller (no website or contact info in any of the included materials), but they were responsive through this review and sent a full replacement in 2 days.If you've stumbled across this product without watching any of the videos detailing install, here's what you need to complete this installation yourself (this was for a 2012 F-250): Two existing programmed keys (or you'll have to take these keys to a shop to get programmed), a laptop running forscan pro (there's a free 2 month trial) and a compatible USB/OBDII adapter to connect that laptop to your vehicle (or you'll have to head to a shop that can do it for you), a factory hood switch (if your truck didn't come with one), and a place to cut the keys to match your existing ones (any hardware store can do this).Instructions: Get the two new keys cut to match your old ones (hardware store). Use your two old keys to program the new ones to work in the ignition by following the instructions included in this kit or any number of videos online (turn an old key from OFF to RUN and wait 3 seconds, do the same thing with the second old key, then do the same thing with the new key (the door locks will cycle to confirm and you need to repeat this process for each new key); the timing between keys and for the whole operation is very specific so go look up a video for your vehicle; it's possible to go too fast as well as too slow and it's a bit touchy). This will enable your new keys ONLY to start the engine in the ignition (but none of the buttons on the key will work at this point). To get the buttons on the remote to work (which presumably you want, since you ordered a remote start kit) you need to enable them (your vehicle treats them as separate things, as if you have a key fob hanging off a key). There are guides online for this, but for my F-250 it's pretty easy; you leave the drivers door open, hit the unlock button on the door once, then cycle any key 8 times between OFF and RUN in the ignition very quickly (you have less than 10 seconds to cycle it all 8 times), wait for the door locks to cycle, then press any button on EACH NEW KEY you wish to activate (the door locks will cycle each time to confirm), then turn the key in the ignition to OFF (the door locks will cycle a final time). This enables the buttons on your new keys to work (otherwise, it's just a dumb key that starts the ignition and nothing else). For some reason, that last bit isn't included in the instructions for this kit despite being rather important to enable remote start, and it took me a while to realize you need to program both new keys at the same time for this step as opposed to one at a time like for the ignition. If you try to do one at a time here, each time you do it deletes the previous key and you'll only ever get one to work at a time.At this point you should have working keys that unlock and start the truck, but still don't remote start. This is where you'll need to use your laptop/forscan/OBDII adapter combo I mentioned above to modify code in the truck to enable remote start and the remote start dash menu (head over to forscan and check the forums for instructions for your particular vehicle). It's not nearly as scary as it sounds (it's basically changing one character to tell the vehicle to enable features that are already IN the system, which is what the dealership will happily charge you hundreds of dollars to do).As others have stated, the included instructions only cover programming the key to start the vehicle and leave out the part about enabling the buttons on the fob. Frustratingly, the included documentation is very limited and doesn't provide any contact information besides referring you to the Ford dealership network website (which you need a login to access). There are some decent videos on YouTube, but even they lack some important detail.Unfortunately, one of my keys worked but the other key gave an "ignition system fault" displayed on the dash and refused to program properly to start the ignition. Interestingly, it did program to unlock the doors so I can only conclude something was fried from the factory.UPDATE:I was initially frustrated by the single dead key as there was no obvious way to contact the seller for a replacement. I posted this review and also posted a question here asking for a replacement. Within a few days the seller reached out via email and offered to replace the broken key directly. Sure enough, they sent me an entire new kit within 2 days. Honestly, this level of customer service more than makes up for the minor QC issue and issues with the included documentation in my book. I would have no issue recommending this to others so long as they know what they're getting into with the activation. Stars updated from 2/5 to 5/5 accordingly.

Product worked fined then started to give me intermittent PATS issues leaving me stranded on multiple occasions. I use these keys strictly for remote start because I can’t trust them in my ignition to keep PATS enabled

I don’t normally write reviews but had to for this one. This really does work for my 2013 Ford F-150 XLT. The antenna and plug in wire was super easy to install. You need ForScan and an OBC tool to turn on the remote start in the Computer. There are two places to activate it. One for the truck and one to put options on your menu in the dash. You have to get the keys cut. I went to Lowes and they did it there for me. Then program the keys and the key fobs. Lots of YouTube videos to follow online to do this. Then to remote start press lock once and the the remote start button twice. Really worked great for me!!!!

The directions are missing an important step. The keys would start the vehicle but the key fob would not work. You need to open and close the door cycle key 8 times leave in on position hit any button on all fobs then turn key off. Then it all works
