This WD 2.5" HDD offers an excellent value with high storage capacity at a great price. I use it as an external drive with a connecting cord as needed, and it has been performing flawlessly. It's whisper-quiet and has fast read and write speeds from what I've seen so far as well. Easily recognizable and formatted through Windows, and delivering the reliable performance and quality that I've come to expect from the WD brand. All in all, for external or 2.5" replacement, I think this is a solid choice for your storage needs. Would recommend!

I purchased this drive for use in my eufy home base for my security cameras. I first bought a different drive, but I was not paying enough attention when I ordered that one. It had the wrong interface(connections to the device) and I destroyed that drive when I tried to install it.I re-read the instructions on my device and ordered this SATA drive as is required. It took almost 3 wks to receive because of some system glitch that held the order. Once I spoke to Amazon, they released it manually and I received it 3 days later.It fit without any resistance and the device instantly read & recognized it and asked to format it. It is working exactly as expected and I can now record 24/7 with my new floodlight dual camera. I dontanticipats any issues down the road.This hard-drive is well built, easy to handle, easy to install, and performs extremely well. It is a great purchase for the money.

Had to replace a SSD with a HDD due to bios problems so went with this drive. First, off the bat, I had NO PROBLEM registering this drive! I registered it while it was still in the sealed wrapper "just in case" but the registration took and so I installed it.This drive is very thin! You definitely will need a caddy for laptop installs unless you have a newer, small laptop. My 17-inch had no problem with room.Speed is fine; not near as happy as with my SSD but I had no choice - a brick laptop or downgrade to a HDD. Ohh well ... that is Asus for you!Again, NO PROBLEM with registering though it did not include instructions and shipped in a brown box; most likely a OEM model but as long as it was able to be registered and showed a warranty active I cannot complain.I HAVE NOT used the software yet as the external box is still enroute through Amazon.

I bought the 2.5" 2TB bare drive to replace the 500GB drive in my Dell Inspiron 15. Despite some negative reviews I ordered this anyway. It came a day earlier than expected and was packed in a sealed antistatic bag in a box wrapped with bubble protector and shipped in a padded packing envelope. Good care in shipping. A sticker on the outside of the antistatic bag read "2 yr warranty by Hard Drive Geeks." So if the drive does fail I won't be calling WD but contacting the Geeks. As far as hard drives go, they are all a gamble. Over the years I've had hard drives fail, but WD ones seemed to be the best, so I prefer them to Seagate.….I put the bare drive into my USB drive dock and connected the USB to my laptop. I then used the free Hard Drive clone utility Macrium Reflect I downloaded from CNET Downloads. This is on a Windows 10 x64 system. All I did was choose the current hard drive, click Clone and then click the new HD in my dock as the destination. The software ran flawlessly and copied my whole drive in about 5 1/2 hrs. Then I shut the laptop down, unplugged it, took out the old drive and put the new 2TB drive in. Works perfectly, and I will then use the Windows resizing utility on the remaining space for storage. If you don't know how to remove or install a hard drive just put in your computer model and type hard drive installation on youtube, there are a ton of videos. Overall I am very happy with this product. If the drive starts acting up I will update the review. In the meantime I have put the original hard drive in a protective case for storage in case I ever need to put it back in for an emergency.
