pro: good product construction quality; fairly easy physical installationcon: same issues as other generic Android car radios - useless instructions, not enough wiring plugs, can't (seem to) get power to unit to power up

The car I am planning to install this in, is currently away at college. I planned to have it installed by now, but haven't been able to get access to it yet. I will update this review once I finish going through that process. My primary reason for getting it is, with my newer cars, I have really grown to appreciate three things. Android Auto, hands free phone calls, and using my phone to play media.I typically drive older cars. My oldest at the moment is a 2001. I bought this unit for a 2004. I am not an audiophile. I listen to a lot of podcasts, audiobooks, and spoken content. Until I had a newer car with a large center display, I was perfectly content with a a bluetooth adapter plugged into the cigarrette lighter and a phone mount. Once I got a new car though, I did grow to appreciate just having my phone connect when I got in the car and plugged it in. I did grow to appreciate not having to clip my phone into a phone mount and just being able to leave it lying down on the console somewhere and using the car's built in display instead. I did grow to appreciate that when doing hands free calling, the week link was the microphone location. If my bluetooth adapter was halfway across the car, so was the microphone. So, that is why I am installing this affordable module. To take a perfectly functioning older car and just add some more modern features that simply were not available when it was made.Everything needed appears to be present in the box. When you are buying this for a particular car, in this case my Mazda3, what you are really buying is convenience. You are buying the wiring harness that connects a generic module to your particular car's factory wiring harnesses and you are buying some trim pieces to seemlessly integrate a standard module with your car's interior. One thing that does seperate some units from others is physical controls, like a volume knob, or a tuning knob. This unit does not have those. It just has some touch controls to the left side of the display. This came already mounted into the trim pieces needed. All required harnesses are in the box. It comes with a Canbus module, needed to integrate with the car's computer system. It came with the rear camera needed to use it with a backup camera. Not something I am quite as interested in, because I barely use my backup camera, even in my newer cars, simply because they didn't exist when I learned how to drive, but I do always make a quick cursory glance at it to make sure there is nothing there that is outside of my field of view to avoid backing over packages left by delivery drivers in front of my garage, bicycles lying in the driveway, or whatever might be there. It even came with the trim prybar and screwdriver needed to do the installation. Now all I need is a visit so I can actually install it in the car.
