I was excited to find these for a nice price. There’s only 1 (actually 4) problem. These are not bone at all. They are cheaply manufactured plastic items that are nothing more than what my guitar had on it.I can’t believe the supplier has the balls to falsely advertise these plastic POSs as bone! These things still have the marks made from the molding process. Beige buffalo bone (as the package says) these are NOT.Stay away from this supplier is my advise.

While i am not a professional luthier, i have been working on my own guitars for more than a decade. When i replace a nut, i use bone. To me, bone sounds much clearer. Others might disagree. When you remove bone material to slot or lower a bone nut, they smell horrible. It is an unmistakable smell. THESE NUTS ARE PLASTIC. They are the right size, and the slots are spaced correctly for the guitar i am working on, but these nuts are made of plastic, NOT BONE.

Don't buy these expecting to get a nut that's correctly precut ready to drop in. You're going to have to earn that lol. I was especially disappointed in the string depths. Oh well, it was worth the risk and I have 4 of them to practice and get it right. I gladly would have paid more for one that was a more exact starting point though.

I like these solid nuts better. I bought a used Dean guitar and it had a different type of nut that wasn't solid and the nut was broke because it wasn't sturdy it was hollow

Good bone nuts. Size is correct, quality is good. They're more of a curved shape (top near grooves, bottom is flat) than the squared/angular shape in the photos, if it matters to anyone. See my photos for actual shape, next to a black plastic one (hard to see) with the more squared shape these were "supposed" to be like. Curved is probably better anyway.

Used two of these the week I got them, good for many acoustics, and Gibson electrics. Cut very well, just had to adjust the height (by sanding the bottom).A note to those who have not worked with bone nuts: When you sand/file these nuts, it's a slow process by hand, and its mission critical you check you are sanding the bottom level, otherwise you'll end with a lop-sided nut.
