These are really nice but the body doesn't need to be that long

I purchased this one as well as three other colors (same manufacturer and part) to use on a project associated with a raspberry pi device. The raspberry pi outputs 3.3V. Initially, I used a 100 ohm resistor but the light was too bright for my project (an indicator light for a terrarium). So, I placed a 1k ohm resistor on the LED, which made the light output more suitable for my needs. Now that the room is dark, I think I could have used more resistance to take the brightness down further (possibly 2k ohm).Using a 1k ohm resistor, I am pushing approx 1.7 milliamps through the LED. I was expecting to use 10-20 milliamps to light the LED. Suffice to say, this is a really bright light. The fit and finish align with my expectations. If the longevity holds up, I will likely purchase more for other projects. I suspect that people who experience a short lifespan with this product are probably not putting a resistor in line with the LED, pushing too much power through the diode.

Used these with some toggles on a busy board for my toddler and they look great. They sit flush and I’ve got them wired up to AAs. Nice and bright, all of them work.

This is for the red LED. It looks good and works well. But there's one particular angle that's about 20° off axis where the light is so bright you can't look directly at it. At 5 V, current is 7 mA. At 2 V, the current dropped to 2 mA and the peak brightness became tolerable. A 1k series resistor would accomplish the same. Or you can rotate the LED to point the bright spot to where you never see it.

These actually light up correctly on a 6 volt car. Hard to find real 6 volt LEDs.

smaller than expected, which is a good thing in my case, takes a wide voltage range and very bright. i used a 6v supply (which measured 7) added 100ohm resistor for current limiting, dropped to 5v and still super bright. ill be buying more
