I should have bought a 3U blank plate, bought more multifan s3 from same maker and built my own rack system. This thing was supposed to be quiet, but it has steadily grown louder and louder since it was installed. The three multi fan s3 units at full speed sound a twentieth as loud as this does at speed level 1. Even when this was brand new it was still a lot louder than the other type. The amount of air that is pushed is the same or better with the s3 fans. This one is starting to get a whine and it hasn't even seen a hundred hours of use. It is supposedly rated for thousands of hours of use before needing maintenance. I'm seriously considering taking out the fans and replacing them with some of the multi fan units by the same maker. Now I just need to figure out which fans will fit. This is seriously aggravating especially considering I spent over a hundred and thirty on these and could have spent about sixty to seventy on my other idea.I bought the fan controller they make and it works great!

I like many others here, had very high hopes for this unit. My speeds go from 0-6, not sure why it's lower than others leaving reviews here. There is an audible mechanical whirring noise starting at level 2. I like to compare it to an electric bowl mixer you'd use in your kitchen at the lowest speed. At 300 CFM, the thing definitely moves air and you'd be hard pressed to find anything that matches that airflow. Unfortunately, it comes at too great of a noise tax.It was irritating me so much that I begrudgingly ordered 3 more fans to try to remedy the situation myself, only to learn that the fan connectors are hot-glued to the control PCB... I didn't try to break the glue off and install my fans because they were 4-pin PWM which aren't be able to be plugged in. For anybody who wants to do the same, you definitely can use PWM fans, but you'll also have to have to get 4-to-3 pin converter cables. But only after you scrape the glue off, which might not even be possible.Pretty disappointed in this unit all in all solely because of it's noise.

I bought this one in combination with others and the operation is significantly better than a competitors that I purchased and returned. The competitors that I returned was cheap and felt like it, but had a simple thermostat that I thought would do the job. The annoying part is that it was either on or off and sounded like a jet engine when it was on. In contrast, this one takes can be daisy chained with the others that you buy. I have it connected to the two others which it supplies power to and regulates the temperature based supplied probes. The look and feel is so much more superior to the competitor and the noise is substantially lower and cooling much better.

I needed to cool an equipment cabinet in my home theater, where because of all the soundproofing it was airtight and there wasn’t enough natural ventilation. We built a cutout through the wall (see pictures) and the Cloudplate T9 not only looks sharp but works extremely well.I really like the smart mode that automatically adjusts the speed as needed, and even on high speeds it doesn’t get too noisy. Highly recommend AC Infinity, this is my second purchase.

Using this in the top cut out of my Sanus CFR2127 Component Rack. Works great. The build quality is excellent and very easy to use. Since it is sitting on the top of the rack one thing you do need to be aware of is the slight hum that it makes. I wish AC Infinity could work with Noctua and develop an almost completely silent fan but here we are. If you are use to the sound due to working in server rooms it won't be a big deal or if you are playing music while you are close to the rack it won't be a big deal. The auto setting is good at turning the fans down and level 1-2 is pretty quiet. So far I am satisfied with the unit and it appears to be doing a decent job of pulling out hot air in the Sanus Rack.

To much noise.Even set on no 1 it is hearable on quiet passages in films.Yes it does shift air but if the sound is overriding the soundtrack that spoils enjoyment. It also transmits the vibration from fans into its mount.I would say to AC infinity devise a way of programming it to say if the heat is rising to high have the option of linking the fan speed to the sound level so it only comes on when level high so would not be heard.John

I chose AC Infinity because of their clean look and easy cooling management. This particular build is for a media server that generates a bit of heat and in my previous builds AC has done an excellent job in creating a strong lasting product with little to no failure rate in their fans. I have a few builds for clients going on for a few years using their cooling plates and this is going to be a personal build. I’m going to have $20-30k worth of gear in this rack AC Infinity all the way!

With 6 speeds I got the larger sized T9 unit at 5" rack height to be able to run the lowest speeds and still move a lot of air hoping to keep things quiet. In a silent room at fan speed 2 you can still hear a bit of a hollow whistle type sound of the motors, but once audio is playing you would be hard pressed to notice it unless you were sitting next to it.My fan is mounted in an rack that is inset in the wall between the media room and the adjacent equipment room for easy front and back access. Above the rack and thus a ways above the fan unit is a projector creating a lot of heat, heating the small equipment room. My seating is 10 feet away so no issue with noise until you start getting to fan speeds 3-6, with 6 being full roar. Level 6 would be quite unusual I would think. The fan control will step up the speeds in several adjustable ways as temperature rises. In my case the projector heat is trapped in the top corner of the room so I am going to first try a 5"/130mm portable A/C exhaust hose and mounting flange stuck to the back of one of the 3 fans and see if I cannot more effectively cool the space and keep the fan speed at the lowest settings. The probe is on a long cable so you can place it most anywhere sever a feet away. Seems to work quite well. It can control another fan unit which I may fall back on if the hose idea fails.

This is one of those necessary things that would otherwise be not needed at all if you didn't have all this expensive stuff. The Blu-Ray Player, your expensive sound system, the DVR, the amazon fire TV, and all those things that you hide away generates a lot of heat and this becomes necessary if you care at all about prolonging the life of those stuff. The fan has many great features on it and mine was the automatic triggering mechanism that allows the fan to turn on and off based on it's surrounding temperature. Otherwise, it's still a great fan overall.

Nothing to be too excited about but this fan works well for what I purchased this for. The controller works well but I think the fan can be bigger because right now it's a little loud for me. The outer frame is a nice design and the metal frame is very durable. The alarm feature is necessary, but wish this had a way to notify me on the phone. You can't really hear it that well when it's inside the media center.

The design of this fan fits well with my current media server setup. The NAS server I have setup has fans in it already but this additional fan allows it to vent the air from inside the cabinet much faster than it could do on its own otherwise. I have mine setup to turn on automatically at 90 degrees or higher and the fan will self-modulate the speed, which meant you could just leave it alone after you install it. Nice overall product and also nice to have but may not be be needed by everyone.
