The transparent clear acrylic round rod resists yellowing and degradation from ultraviolet light and meets Underwriters Laboratories UL 94HB specifications. Acrylic is a lightweight, tough plastic that offers transparency similar to that of glass.
Plastic refers to a group of synthetic or semi-synthetic materials that have been engineered to achieve specific properties. The most notable characteristics of plastics are its low weight, machinability, corrosion resistance, and typically good thermal and electrical insulating properties. Certain plastic grades also offer optical transparency similar to glass, low-friction or self-lubricating surfaces, and exceptional impact resistance. Depending on their properties, certain plastic grades can be used as alternatives to metal, glass, and ceramic. Unlike metal, plastic may experience creep, which is deformation caused by longtime exposure to a constant load.
Tensile strength, used to indicate the material’s overall strength, is the peak stress it can withstand before it breaks. Corrosion resistance describes the material's ability to prevent deterioration caused by atmosphere, moisture, or other medium. Wear resistance indicates the ability to prevent surface damage caused by contact with other surfaces. Toughness describes the material's ability to absorb energy before breaking, while hardness (commonly measured as indentation hardness) describes its resistance to permanent surface deformation. Impact resistance is the measure of a material’s ability to absorb a shock of energy before breaking.

Used for curtain rods. Only supported at the ends over time these will begin to sag. 6ft probably is a bit too long to expect a 1inch rod to go without sagging. Also cut a few to 5ft and they're fine.

Like other reviewers mentioned, the rods initially ‘appeared’ to be scratched. (They’re not.) It’s just a bit of adhesive that I removed with some Goo Gone. (They’re now super shiny.) I recommend coupling that with your order.

It’s damaged, but I made it work. It’s super heavy, with the plastic filling the middle.. I am using it as a a curtain rod. I put1 inch pipe end caps on it from Home Depot to disguise the blemishes...but it does come damaged no matter what you need it for.

Used these for curtain rods. Saved hundreds of dollars on the same thing sold through decorating stores. Easy to cut, and easier to glue together to make length correct. Love the look!!!

The rod itself is a 5 star - I'm using it as a shower rod in a bathroom remodel & looks beautiful. But... the first delivery was a very large 8' box with a mop stick in it...??!! At least, they rushed the 2nd delivery, but I still had to hassle with shipping the large 8' box with the mop stick.

Great rod, great price, great packaging, and had it in 2 days.Made a couple of lightsaber night lights out of this, and was the best deal I could find for the acrylic rod.
