Benchmark makes some of the best abrasives I've found. I have used thousands of the cutting discs and they have a super long life and are very durable, never have problems with discs coming apart.

Abrasives are a huge part of running a fabrication shop, and cut-off wheels are in constant use here daily. I've tried many different brands over the years and took a chance on the Benchmark 5" cut-off wheels. I'm really happy with these! They hold up as well or better than name brands I've used that cost way more. A quality product that saves a small business money is a great thing.

These cut great! Makes quick work of cutting steel tube and rebar. And the 5” wheels are our favorite as they last longer than the 4” or 4-1/2”.

For 50 of these 5" metal cutoff wheels at my local hardware store, I'd be paying nearly $250! I'm not sure how these are so inexpensive, but I just received them and the quality appears to be identical to the ones I normally buy. I will update my review after some actual use in the field, but I have no reason to expect them to perform any differently than the one's I've been using. As typical with every brand of cutoff wheel I've used in the past, the actual thickness is greater than advertised, but not too far off. These are advertised as 0.045" and the actual thickness is 0.0560" (1.42mm)--see my photos. The other brand I was using before this that also advertised 0.045" but measured over 0.060".EDIT: After using these in the field now, I've had absolutely no issues. They work just as well as the ones I was paying much more for.

I purchased these to disassemble pallets made from steel rectangular tubing by cutting them apart through the welds. I've been using several other brands of 4 1/2" cutting discs, and have run into short life, slow cutting, and even exploding failures. Not fun. I tried these Benchmark Abrasives cutoff wheels based on the reviews here on Amazon, and have found them to be the best I've found. The extra half inch in diameter not only helps them last longer, they'll cut deeper when they're fresh, and at a more shallow angle, both of which are a big help in my application. The thinness and aggressiveness of the abrasive help them cut fast with lighter pressure, which also helps them last. They're especially good when used with battery powered tools because they help the batteries last longer. And when I screw up and pinch one, it hangs together and doesn't explode, making them safer to use. I'm on my second pack of 50, and that won't be my last.

I'm a seasoned fabricator and welder. I haved used a lot of cutting methods and products. This discs have impressed me. They cut fast and last. Although an experienced operator is a must for a disc to last, they really are worth it. Good price and nice and fast cutting. Why 4 stars? Because they tend to be a little unbalanced and cause a little bit of vibration. Apart from that I find them very good.
