A great idea but CATEYE missed it on this product. Difficult to set up on the app, never worked for me and popped off the recommended front mount the first time I tried to use it. And that was in a Tri race, and I didn't see when it popped off the mount but noticed it was gone a few minutes later but it was in a race so there was no way to go back and look for it anyway. Another lesson learned on that: Never try anything new in a race. It's Junk anyway. Very disappointed with CATEYE on both the device and the front mount. And I've been using CATEYE sensors (with the magnets) for several years. Save your $ and save up for a Garmin GPS bike sensor.

I wanted to like it. Japanese engineering and quality. But software is simply abysmal. I could not get it even to work once.

I have been using this computer for several months now. I am a long distance rider and encounter many different conditions while riding. Every time I ride through an area with tree cover, the current speed drops by 4 or 5 mph without me changing elevation, speed, or cadance. This is really frustrating especially when leading a pace line and trying to maintain a certain speed. I have a 5G smartphone and this works fine without tree cover. I just purchased a different wireless battery operated cateye computer that uses the magnet / tag to track speed. Disappointed for the price of this item.

Cateye used to be a quality cycling computer a while ago. It isn't any more and I wouldn't buy this unit again. Interfaces apparently not designed for users (shocking revelation for developers) and the latency for both GPS signal and sensors is unacceptable. When I'm riding, I don't have the time to troubleshoot or just accept that some measurements are unavailable at the moment I'm looking at the screen. Surprising lack of quality in a competitive environment, maybe the corporate decision is to milk the profit while the competition races by.

I emailed with Cateye before purchasing to determine if the unit would work without the smartphone app. The response was yes but without some functions, which I interpreted those linked with another riding program. The GPS unit is perfect for my needs and can be simply used on any bike with a mount. I cannot make the unit work without FIRST pairing with the app. You use the app originally for a simple set up, miles vs. km and auto clock and not change the default GPS satellite (it is not identified). (I did try the only other satellite/GPS choice and the unit could not locate). So you choose one satellite or the other, not both. When you first turn on the unit, it flashes ready and never goes away unless you press the main (only) button which forwards you to the main screen and choice of mileage etc. So you take off riding and nothing. No GPS, no info. So you stop riding and pair the dang thing to your phone and sure enough it starts working. Apparently it's start up sequence is looking for the root choices in the app EACH time you turn it on. I have not tried pairing, have it working, and ride away from the bluetooth connection to the phone. Who knows! Also, the written instructions are useless on setup, there are few, so you make your way through the app setup by wandering.

For half the price I strongly recommend getting the Coospo gps cyclocomputer over this. The airGPS loses signal under tree coverage easily, changes speed very slowly so unless your at a constant speed you never really know how fast you’re going, the screen is really small and hard to see while biking, and the button system is very unresponsive.Save yourself a headache and money, get the Coospo.
