While I liked the construction of the thermometer and the clip that kept the probe from the edge of the pan, the temperature was 40 degrees off reading only about 170 F in a pan of water at full boil. There is no way to calibrate the thermometer so it is essentially nothing but junk at this point.

I never had a Polder. I'm glad that I bought this one. The numbers on the dial are crisp, and clear, and easy to read. They are black numbers on a white dial. The sweeping indicator is red. It is accurate, reading 212 degrees farenheit in boiling water. The adjustable clip is a handy feature. It is offset at a slight angle which allows the thermometer to attach to the side of a pot or pan so that it reads the liquid temperature without touching the bottom or sides.

Excellent quality, and accurate. A must have for deep frying, or candy making. I went for years and didn't realize how bad I was at guessing the oil's temperature. Fast shipping, Great seller. Highly Recommended.
