I recently bought the Dog Tracker Smart Pet Location Tracker with Collar Holder, hoping it would help me keep track of my dog during walks and outings. Unfortunately, I didn't find it very reliable or accurate. While I really wanted this tracker to work for us, I can't recommend it based on my experience. I think I’ll be looking for a different option that provides more accurate tracking and reliability.

We got this tracker for our dog who has gotten off his leash and bolted. Unfortunately when we took the piece out of the package we couldn’t get it to work. The battery wouldn’t slide back into the device. We couldn’t get it to connect and after over an hour we just gave up. Sometimes it’s worth paying the extra money for the tried and true brand.

When i saw this I thought man that's cool. You can put the chip and hook it to your dogs collar and its supposed to let me know if my dog got loose. Download the app for Apple phones and it's supposed to show me his location. So I tried it out and it doesn't work very well. It showed me about where he is but it's not right. It'll aslo is behind time so if tour looking for a dog, it's actually already been through that area. Don't waste your money!

I really like this thing. It tracks effectively (most of the time), but it seems you need to change the battery about once a month. Maybe that’s normal? It seems more often than necessary, but it’s still worth it. The batteries are cheap.I recommend this!

This is something we had been looking into since the AirTag hit the market; a small lightweight device that could track our little hairy hotdog when he decided to wander through any and every hole in the fence he found, or made. He is an escape artist. He once managed to get out of his kennel. Like he had the keys to his own jail cell. So given that honest and kind neighbors are so hard to find, who aren’t afraid of the pseudo-vicious fur missile, who would walk him door to door to find the owner (happened once ever) we needed a better inexpensive solution that didn’t have monthly fees attached as we needed that money to go to the vet bills when he decided the backyard buffet was open and beaks aren’t edible. The connection to the Find My App on iOS took two tries as the device connection kept dropping out on a fresh battery. After the second attempt we were connected and she shared her connection to the tracker with me.Here is where the major issue begins with this unreliable device. The device makes a noise that you can trigger to locate the dog.Problem: you must be within Bluetooth range of up to 30-40 ft to set it off. But the device makes such a low chime that you better be in the same room or closet with the dog because you may not hear it outside in heavy underbrush or loud environmental conditions. The device is supposed to work on the Find My network that AirTag works on.Problem: sometimes the tracker decides it doesn’t want to be found. I have cycled the power on and off thinking it had powered down, and that isn’t the issue since it chimes when you turn it on. On the maps I posted, the one with the red circle is a test I ran to see if I could track the dog 400 ft away. The tag made it roughly 50-75 feet before it stopped reporting its location. At 400 feet, what the image should have shown, even the iphone near the tag (primary registered owner) wasn’t checking in for location with the tag. Reporting the tag missing didnt force an update and when the tag and registered user came back to the condo at 15 ft away, the rage is refusing to play the chime I am requesting and it isn’t showing that it is here. I have seen an AirTag get tracked from a living room sofa to its location in transit around the globe. This can’t even do it in the same block. One problem I think is happening as I noticed it when I set it up, is possibly the layers of silicone protective shell on the textured outer shell of the tag and then the silicone strap it slips into which definitely dampened the sound of the already low chime to a whisper. You’re better off just paying for an actual AirTag. This product is in need of a rebuild to upgrade the radio devices inside. It works slightly better as an NFC device than a lost item locator. In the west, people treat their pets like family members. Most owners take the safety of their pets as serious as a child. Trusting this device to guard that safety is negligent as just the setup failed due to the failure of the device to continuously be available to the iPhone. Also, to open the device to access the battery requires the use of a small key-like pry tool that can be easily dropped and never found until your Roomba snorts it up. There is a small hole on it for a wrist strap to go on. I’d recommend using a bright color and keeping it somewhere you won’t forget later. The device is wrapped in enough of a durable protective silicone layer that I doubt anything short of completely submerging or cooking the animal will be able to hurt the device. As far as battery life goes, I can’t speak to that as for the extremely short amount of time this was working it was registering at a full charge every time. The device is super lightweight and maybe it needs a bigger radio built in since not everything that is smaller works as well. This was tested using an iPhone 16 Pro Max and an iPhone 11 each running its current iOS. No animal was harmed or able to be tracked during the testing of this device.
