The glass is fragile and prone to breaking, posing a safety hazard when using it in hot liquids.3. **Difficult to Read:** The temperature markings are difficult to read, especially when immersed in hot liquids. This makes it challenging to monitor the temperature accurately.4. **Unsuitable for Deep Frying:** Despite being advertised for deep frying, this thermometer is not suitable for the task. It does not clip securely to the pot, making it prone to slipping and causing dangerous oil splatters.Overall, I would not recommend the GoodCook Classic Candy/Deep Fry Thermometer as it is unreliable, poorly constructed, and potentially hazardous to use.

This thermometer works but the red plastic clip came apart after my 2nd use. Not the end of the world so I merely SuperGlued it back together. For the price, and can't complain that much.

Feel much safer with protective cover for thermometer when hands (especially “little curious hands”) go searching in the storage drawer for a utensil. It’s also nice to retrieves thermometer in ONE piece!

When it fogs up, it's hard to read but I can move it around, it does get condensation inside, the top does come off to air it afterwards, It's about 1-2 degrees low but no that serious, I also live above 4500', so boiling points a little less so it could really be dead on and I'm just not reading those lines perfectly, still perfect for my needs.

This is the 2nd candy thermometer I have bought, same brand and all. Apparently if you drop it on to the floor it breaks!? Anyways my bad. I like to make caramel sauce and started dabbling in some hard candies. I like how it comes with an easy to use clip that clips to the side of the pot, you can also twist the thermometer to where you can see the degrees, my stove has a slant to it so everything kinda leans forward so I clip it to the side of the pan closer to the deeper end of the pot and then twist it to where I can read the degrees. My only complaint is that it fogs up and so I end up having to wipe the glass frequently in order to see what temp it's at. Other than that, which can be a bit annoying especially if you have to work fast once it reaches a certain temp. Oh and it is in Farenhite and Celsius.
