This strainer and press works well. The mesh is tissue thin; we'll see how it holds up, but it's working well so far. In order for the press to work properly, you do need to strain the yogurt for 12-24 hrs prior as instructed in the manual. Also, any amount of yogurt that is above the side mesh won't strain as well. I would've preferred it to hold exactly half gallon. I think a lot of people would be making yogurt with a half gallon of milk. You can fit an entire half gallon of you strain for a few hours and then top it off with the remaining... But that entire process is not ideal since it would be too full to strain evenly and you would still have to scoop off about a cup or two before you can use the press. The unit is made for 1.5 qt and it works well for that. I haven't tried this with store bought yogurt, but it's great with homemade. I may eventually replace it with something larger, but it's fine for now.

I purchased this product to make labneh. It turned out to be much better than the cheese cloth and strainer I used before. I like the spring-loaded plate that adds pressure to squeeze more weigh from the yogurt. This should be used after allowing the yogurt to drain and thicken so the plate does not sink to the bottom. Adding some salt, olive oil and mint will result in a delicious product. You can eat it with pita bread or tortilla.

An all in one setup for yogurts that can set at room temperatures. Removing the strainer allows you to start the yogurt batch from scratch until you're ready to strain the curds/whey. The strainer seems fragile, almost paper thin, but it didn't allow much of the curd to pass through and is tougher that it appears.I tried to push it a little with a 2 quart batch, but had to go with just under that and filled the container to the brim. This made it more difficult later on when I used the pressure plate w/spring to assist in whey separation. The entire batch wouldn't quite fit into the strainer basket. In smaller batches 1 to 1.5 quarts, this is an all-in-one system.Cons:- Blue lid doesn't fit well on the container without the strainer/insert in place.- If you put the pressure spring in place before the yogurt sets well enough, the yogurt will spill around the sides and end up above the pressure plate where it's not getting the whey separated.

Honestly, works a lot better than expected. The Greek yogurt turned out great. Now I'll try to make cottage cheese.

This Greek Yogurt Strainer is a handy tool for making thick and creamy yogurt at home. The ultra-fine nylon mesh works well for straining, and the pressure filtration speeds up the process. My only critique is that the lid doesn't always fit as securely as I'd like.
