installed a set on 67 mustang drag car, looking for more power by going to the 1 3/4 tube. I did notice gain in power over the 1 5/8 tube super comps I was running. but there were issues to be dealt with. first, with the engine on a stand, I tried to do a test fit, some of the bolt holes were off. one side was ok, the other side not so good. ground out four bolt holes to fix it. then I noticed you cannot get the spark plugs in due to the way the flanges were cut. four hours with a die grinder and a carbide cutter all is good. the exhaust port on the headers were awful, back to the grinder. by the time they were ready to go in the car, I had at least ten hours of grinding time. once they were in the car, I found out they do not play well with the power master starter. I had to modify the starter mounting block and drill new mount holes. the good stuff. they look good. the heat has turned then a nice looking bronze color. they do rust, but not like steel. I like the thick flanges. the bolts and gaskets were ok. the headers fit tight up to the body. the clutch linkage is easy to install. in the end they were good for 2 mph top end ET dropped by .15

I'm not sure if the Fairlane firewall is just different enough from a Mustang firewall, but the rear tube on the drivers side header hits. I've have other headers (all for Mustangs) that also touched the firewall, but never to the point that they wouldn't go into the car. The set that I had were 1 5/8 tube where these are 1 3/4.I first tried clearancing the firewall but I couldn't "massage" it enough the get the header in the car. I resorted to cutting a section from the rear tube and modifying it to clear. I thought this was a much better option than massaging the tube with a hammer. Luckily for me I have a TIG welder and was able to do what was needed. As I said, these are for a Mustang and I put them into a Fairlane. I always thought the firewalls were the same but they may be just different enough.Other than the fitment issue these seem to be okay. The 3/8 flanges should mean no leaks. Another issue I ran into was one of the welds up at one of the ports had lots of melted steel that dripped into the port. I had to used a die grinder to clean it up.

These are fantastic. By far the best deal on them was here on amazon. They fit great around the AOD and power steering. The quality is great, they line right up with the head. Best fitting headers I've used.
