  • Step drill bits are used to drill holes of various sizes in materials such as metal, wood, plastic, etc. They are often used in applications where a clean, accurate hole is required, such as in the automotive, aerospace, and construction industries.

  • Step drill bits work by gradually increasing in diameter as they are used to drill a hole. Each step of the bit has a different diameter, allowing the user to drill multiple sizes of holes with just one tool.

  • A regular drill bit has a fixed diameter and can only drill holes of that size, while a step drill bit has multiple steps with increasing diameters, allowing it to drill multiple sizes of holes with one tool.

  • The proper way to use a step drill bit is to start with the smallest step and gradually work your way up to the desired hole size. It is important to use the correct speed and pressure when drilling to avoid overheating the bit.

  • KSEIBI Step drill bits can be used with both a hand drill and a drill press or even the impact screwdriver. However, using a drill press can provide greater control and precision when drilling, particularly with thicker materials.

These things work great with battery powered equipment such as drills. It’s always better to start with a smaller diameter and work up to the larger ones when you need a larger hole.Really as a quality made product I would recommend these anytime

Never used one of these stepped bits before. Makes holes in thin metal well. Saves a lot of trouble over conventional bits. Enlarges existing holes well, something very difficult with conventional bits. Wished I had one of these years ago. This brand cuts fast. Not sure of its longevity yet but very impressed with how it cuts.

These things did great going through most of what I used them on, but I'd question the impact rating. I broke a bit in my first set trying to open up a hole on a trailer for a wiring harness. When built they used a torch to blow a hole in the metal. I wanted a nicer rounded hole for passing protective sleeving through. Was using the bit in my impact driver because drill was too long to fit in area. Bit promptly caught and snapped off at the shank. Was still in return window and Amazon or seller was quick to replace. Haven't had any more issues, but also haven't put them into a similar situation.

Was a little skeptical with the step bit, but most of the reviews were great and let me tell you what they were not wrong. I’ve used this bit for the past couple of months on several different projects and with a little cutting lubrication this bit has yet to fail me one time I mounted a trailer hitch on an older F250 that required six holes to be drilled through the frame. In this thing handled it with ease on an impact gun then I drilled another eight holes through steel on my trailer to mount the winch then in additional eight more holes on the tongue to mount electric jack and toolbox a little cutting lube and this thing handles like a champ, and it’s still not dull yet would definitely definitely recommend

Never used these kinds of variable bit hole system before. But now that I have used it.. they are great.. You have to use higher speed to keep from trying to "dig" too fast. But after several metal cuts, they have held up great. Good set to have around.
