This was my first time using a digital candy thermometer. I loved it! I used two other thermometers to check the accuracy and it was spot on. It is very lightweight and built well. I didn’t have to worry about anything because it functions better than a regular candy thermometer. With being older I have trouble seeing tiny numbers and the digital display made it so easy.

The product is extremely top heavy. I have used it 4 or 5 times and have had to keep one hand on it so it does not flip out of the kettle. The first time I used it and stirred the candy, I bumped the thermometer and it flew our of the pan onto the floor. The display is great and it seems to be very accurate. However, the clamp connecting it to the pot is woefully inadequate for the size of the thermometer.

This comes with a user manual which you do need. This has the ability to switch between F or C which comes in handy as a couple of my recipes are in Celsius. I love the clip on this which holds really well to the side of the pan. I checked this against my mercury thermometer and it was accurate. I like this type of thermometer as the probe is smaller and the clips hold the thermometer secure for candy. The only issue I had with this is the top is heavier than my other digital thermometer and I had to work with the clips to make sure to get it to stay on the pot as it is top heavy with the pot I use for candy. This worked really well and was a dream compared to my old mercury thermometer. I think this is a great thermometer for candy and a good price.

The thermometer is top heavy, it would not stay attached to the pan and it shut off in the middle of making my candy.

This candy thermometer is perfect. I love to bake and make confections by hand, and I've gone through quite a few candy thermometers in my time. I've had metal instant-read ones like this one, and I've had glass ones. After my latest one died on me, I decided to give this one a shot. First off, I love that it has the different temperatures written on the body of the thermometer reader. That is so helpful. I've only had one candy thermometer do that before, and it wasn't very clear or easy to read, but this one has it written very clearly right beneath the temperature screen. Second, I love that the clip for the side of the pot slides easily (unlike one of my previous models) and, once you have it where you want it, holds that location until you move it again. It is not likely to slip around and move your thermometer. Third, the button to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius is on the back of the device and is not easily accidentally pressed - I had one once where I kept accidentally changing it, and when you're making something that requires delicate and extremely accurate readings, a few moments of fumbling with the thermometer to get it back to the right temperature scale can be the difference between a successful confection and a ruined mess. With this candy thermometer, if you change it from Fahrenheit to Celsius or vice versa, it's because you chose to do so. Finally, although I do not think I will use it much, the flashing-light alarm for when a specific temperature is reached does work - however, I am one of those people who will just be sitting there, watching the temperature as it rises or lowers, so that isn't something I think I personally need. Having said that, if you are someone who will be doing multiple tasks at once, I think it would be a great help - just so long as you keep an eye on it. I highly recommend this candy thermometer and I can't wait to make more confections going into the holiday season!
