For the price I couldn’t be more impressed!! Decent quality for a beginner. I bought it for my 8yr old daughter as she played some at school and fell in love. She LOVES it! Just had to get it tuned. There are lots of videos online plus the book to help you.

I was looking for a black toy guitar for a Halloween costume, and wound up going with this. Definitely way higher quality than I was expecting for the price! It’s playable, and while I’ll swap out the strings if I use it for more than one night, it sounds totally fine as is. Tuned up just fine, and I plucked the strings as I did so, which should help it stay in tune.Only downside is there’s no way to affix a strap to it, but I didn’t see that in the product image so I won’t knock down the overall rating for it.

To start this was going to be a secret Santa gift for a buddy of mine, but there is so much bad with this I would rather not get him anything than give this to him. Below is the list of why.1)small for a soprano2) was label RockJam rather than Martin Smith(looks exactly like the picture other than the wrong label)3) The bag is very cheap and it too is label RockJam4) the Nylon string were terrible it took forever to get it to tune and does not stay tuned long (if you do buy it for someone over tune it as soon as it comes in it takes a couple of days to stretch the strings)5) even when tuned it does not have a good sound quality ( for $10 more dollars you can buy a really nice one in comparison.6) over all it seems like an overpriced childs toy.I am not a Ukulele snob I have bought only bought 5 total (2 for $75, 1 for $50, 1 for $40, and this one) none of these were top of the line purchases but the sound difference is night and day.

For a musician who has never played a string instrument, I though this was an extremely helpful (and cheap) ukulele to start with. It takes a few weeks to build up some callouses but after that the nylon strings don't hurt to play. One of the strings did break when I tried to tune it for the first time. That was my fault because I had turned the knob to far. I recommend tuning in small increments so that doesn't happen. Overall I think this is a wonderful ukulele for a beginner!

I gifted this to my older sister for her birthday as she wanted one when she seen mine. It does the job, it's definitely a good gift for a child who on a whim just wants an instrument. Cheap enough so that if they don't take interest at all, you wouldn't mind if it had to be tossed.The quality of it itself is... questionable. It comes out of tune pretty fast, and has to be tuned in between sessions. Not just slightly off key, but MASSIVELY off key. The paint job is nice if you don't look too close and the strings are all right. It sounds a bit echoey, but that'll happen to a painted uke. Now for the bad part.The nut is something that cheap ukuleles just can't ever get right to my understanding. It's much too high. You have to use an amount of force to push down the strings on the first fret, and it hurts your fingers much faster than on a uke with a polished nut. It even slightly affects the sound of the uke. However, this is still a good uke for introducing someone to the instrument. The higher nut may even force them to have correct hand placement.All in all, its good for the price, sounds okay, and looks nice. I would recommend getting a better ukulele at least for 50 dollars if the person who recieved it takes a liking to the instrument.
