Morey Bodyboard Sizing
- When selecting a bodyboard, both weight and height are crucial factors to consider for optimal performance.
- Our size chart serves as a helpful guide, but you can also use what's known as a "rough sizing" method. To do this, hold the bodyboard in front of you; the ideal size should extend from your knees to your chin.
- For heavier riders, a wider board is recommended to provide additional flotation and buoyancy.
- If you plan on riding primarily small waves, opting for a larger board will also help with flotation. Conversely, if you're aiming to tackle larger waves, a smaller board is preferable as it allows more of your body to be submerged, enhancing control.
- Below are some straightforward guidelines to assist you in determining the best bodyboard size for you.
- BODYBOARD LENGTH
- Your board, when standing on its tail (the back end) should come up to roughly within an inch to either side of your belly button. If you normally ride small waves, an inch above, big waves an inch below. If you are a bigger individual that doesn't meet height standards, then you'll need a board that is shorter and wider.
- BODYBOARD WIDTH
- You should be able to hold the board comfortably under your arm and against your side without much if any slack between your armpit and the rail. Again, the type of waves you ride may help your decision. Wide boards for smaller waves, narrower for bigger waves. Big rider? You need a wider board.

MOREY BODYBOARD'S
- The modern bodyboard has its origins in California, USA, specifically at Doheny State Beach. In 1971, Tom Morey was watching some young kids surfing on polyethylene foam logs that were held together with PVC pipe. Morey was inspired by their creativity and saw an opportunity to create a new type of surfboard that would be more accessible to a wider range of people.
- Over the years, Morey has worked tirelessly to perfect the bodyboard, experimenting with different materials and designs to achieve the optimal combination of speed, maneuverability, and durability. Today, the bodyboard is a popular choice for surfers of all ages and skill levels, and is widely recognized as a legitimate form of wave riding in its own right.
- Despite its humble beginnings, the bodyboard has come a long way since Tom Morey first watched those kids surfing on foam logs at Doheny State Beach. Thanks to the dedication and innovation of Morey and other pioneers in the sport, the bodyboard has become a beloved and respected fixture of the surfing world.
