I've had success with this brand in the past but this particular unit does not retract all the way unless you do it inch by inch ensuring that the cord inside the housing is perfectly aligned. If the housing had been just a bit larger, it wouldn't be an issue. Other than that, it works as expected...but, not being able to have the cord retract even close to all the way is a problem.

This seems to be a very well built product. More suited to be put on walls than ceilings. However it would have been nice if they told you in the instructions that you had to remove two screws in order to get the bracket off to mount that. The directions are small and poorly written. They show you a schematic in there that is worthless. The neon light in the end of the plug area works very well. A slate design modification would be nice in the bracket assembly.

It does exactly what it says, it's a an extension cord in a retracting wheel housing. Does that job nice and cleanly. Seems sturdy and the power cable is thick and well insulated. Extra bonus is the company stands behind the product, I had a problem and they offered to send me a replacement without issue. That is a relief these days. Would buy again definitely.

I've been using this for months and I am loving it so far . You kind of have to guide the cord in sometimes because it tends to want to wrap up on one side or the other of the spool and fills up that side . No worse than any hose reel I have used . Would buy again . Just might for the other side of the shop .

Firstly, I would not consider myself an intensive/heavy user of this product. I have found the product has performed well through 1 year of use. I have not experienced any issues with the recoil mechanism, just be patient with the cord coil and you should have a good use case with this product. Compared to a similar air hose coiler, that is metal and more 'professional-grade,' this is a little less sturdy and you should treat/use it that way. The power cord seems well made and has stood up to moderate use.

Heavy and sturdy. Works great. I like the fact that it is 15 amps and has 3 sockets on the end of the cable. I took the mounting bracket off and mounted it on a beam overhead. Then I loosened the mounting bolts, slid the bracket off again and reattached it to the cable housing. That made mounting it much easier. I just slid the bracket back onto the mounting bolts and tightened them up. I recommend this product.

This is a really nice, heavy duty cord reel. I mounted it on the ceiling in my garage near the garage door opener (to use that outlet for the power) and it works great. I like having the 3 power sockets on the end too. You can have a light and a tool plugged in wherever you are working. The 12 gauge wire is super heavy duty. You can power anything in your shop safely with this cord and not worry about any electrical fire hazards. This will support up to a 20 amp circuit safely!

It was as advertised and installed like a breeze. The only issue is the instructions do not show you how to take the mounting bracket off to install separately. There are screws on both side that have to be removed to remove the mounting bracket. Once i figured this out, it took about 5 minutes to install the bracket and hang the unit. Works great.

Cord reels seem to be rare/expensive items. I had two I bought from costco years ago and the one I used the most failed. I bought this as a replacement hoping it would be more robust and handle more current. It does handle more current than my old reel. I am able to run my contractor table saw, miter saw, and shop vac on it. I usually run the shop vac with a cyclone seperator on the cord wile running the saws. I'm sure this draws a lot of amps and is punishing for a cord reel. Unlike my previous reel, the cord doesn't get hot when I'm using it.The shell is some kind of rough plastic like you would find on a cooler. I would prefer metal, but it seems to be holding up well in the texas heat. The only thing I'm not super crazy about is the mounting aparatus. It's better than the last one.

Circuit breaker is moved to box on input cord, not on the reel itself. This wasn't a problem for me, but the pictures show a breaker on the reel body (and there is still an inert button on the reel body). The location has been an issue for other people, so I thought it worth mentioning. The ratchet mechanism works fine, but at the end of the retraction travel the cord can bind in the reel against the reel housing. I imagine this will be a problem for the heavier gauge wire (mine is the 12ga version) as it looks like the reel housing is identical for all three offerings. You can see where the cord is stacking up and begins to rub. It's an easy fix, just pull out some more cord (two or three revolutions' worth) and let it retract again, with a different feed side (ie, if you were on the right and it bound up, feed it from the left side of the reel). For my mount, this is fine, your application may be different.Otherwise, the reel works well. Mounting is simple, though be prepared to have two large bolts for the mounting bracket. Also, the bracket is not removable, so you can't mount the bracket, then hang the reel. No template is provided, but this is a small matter and something anyone could do on their own with pencil and paper. Also, note that the reel is fairly heavy, as would be expected, so don't plan on using hollow wall anchors or the like to support it.
