To start, I would like to say that I have used this brand for many years, aging back to my college career where I minored in the art and practice of Harp playing. During this time, I have been loyal to this product and it has always served me well. Much to my dismay, my recent order arrived and, filled with excitement, I immediately began to re-string my 18 string lap-harp and, as I proceeded to tune said harp, the tension and resistance felt abnormally tight, yet the designated pitch had not yet been achieved. I ceased the tuning process in hopes that the strings would stretch over time. After a while, I approached the instrument once more to tune and, as I plucked the high-B string, it snapped along with the D below that. I, shocked but ready to press on, proceeded to leave the instrument to it's own. Later that same night, my family recognized a snapping noise from the other room. When we entered to diagnose the source of the sound, we quickly discovered upon examination that 3 more strings had snapped simply from sitting. I have never had trouble with this product before and hope not to again. The fault could be accredited to multiple potential sources (i.e. The harp, the strings, me), but I am assuming it had a great deal to do with the afore mentioned product. This all being said, I look forward to a potential solution being arranged with the company itself.

I have a Heather harp and this string set is supposed to be for the Heather harp. My current strings are 20 years old and not holding in tune so I decided to restring the whole harp. I have changed strings before with the original spare set that came with the harp when a few strings broke without a problem. With these new strings I made the knot as small as possible. I’m afraid some of them will pull out, but I didn’t have a choice. I haven’t changed them all yet, but a couple I have had to tie a regular knot, thread through the tuning pin and stretch the string by turning the tuning pin to get the string long enough to tie the right kind of knot. Even the precut strings are not long enough. For several strings there was not enough string to wrap the string properly around the tuning pin to secure the end from slipping. I had to use a lighter to melt the ends in a ball so they wouldn’t slip back out of the tuning pin. I really don’t like having an open flame next to my wood harp, but there wasn’t any other way to secure the string.I’m giving this string set 2 stars because I do not have enough string to string the low E. I can’t even get the string into the tuning pin to stretch it. I did not use too much string on the low D. Like I said, I made the knot as small as possible and I don’t even have two full windings on the tuning pin for the low D. Strings that are the proper length should have 3 to 4 windings on the tuning pin.I didn’t give this string set one star because if you just need spare strings for the occasional broken one this set is adequate, if you don’t mind an open flame near your harp to secure the precut ones on the tuning pin.The precut strings need to be two inches longer, but even 1 inch would be a whole lot better. The uncut ones need to be 2 inches longer per harp string they are intended to replace if the seller wants to continue to call this a complete string set. It would be more appropriately called spare strings.I love my Heather harp. I have had it for 20 years and it is structurally sound and sounds great. I will be getting my strings somewhere else. Markwood has a set for the Heather harp. I’m going to email them first to make sure the strings are long enough. I guess I’ll keep these as spares.

The perfect replacement set for our harp. While it's not exactly rocket surgery, replacing the strings is not a simple task.

as a beginner I was expecting maybe instructions and the little stopper things at the end of each string that I can see on the old strings that are still on the instrument.

The color coded strings made it easy for my adult son to restring his harp. I think it even comes with a guide, or you can google how to replace broken strings.

They tell you that it is advisable to purchase an extra set of string with your harp, but honestly the string tension is so less with this harp that they hardly ever break, even with a 4 year old tuning it waaaaaaaaaay up! I've only changed 1 string in a year. This pack of strings may very well last me the rest of my life.
