I don't know if I just got a bad/defective height gauge, but this one is being returned.My issues with this height gauge are ...1) Repeatability - Pathetic.I know it's a low cost tool, but 80 to 90% of the times there is no repeatability, and sometimes it off by as much as +/- .030".2) Smooth operation - Poor.There are a lot of "sticky" or "stiff" spots which require two hands to move the slider. These "sticky" or "stiff" spots have caused jumps of +/- .800" while trying to push through the stickiness.In my opinion these two issues make this tool unusable.Unfortunately, by the time I contacted Shars, I was told it beyond warranty period. That's on me! However, when I contacted Shars a second and third time and asked if there was anything I could do to improve its repeatability and reduce the stickiness, I got zero replies back. So, not not only does this tool suck, Shars customer service sucks as well. I spend a lot of money on tooling for my CNC shop. Shars will not be getting a dime of it from now on.

Pretty heavy duty, I was surprised at that considering the price. Initial tests proved to be very accurate as well. Kinda hard to read not being backlit, but again great for the price

The smaller pieces were hiding just a little when I opened the box but there were there. I suggest keeping the box of you don’t constantly keep it out. The box protected it very well.
