Sound Town Rack-Mountable AC Power Conditioner / Sequencer with 10 Outlets, Protection, Voltage Display, for Stage, Studio, Home Theater (STPS-1028)

The Sound Town STPS-1028 power sequencer ensures you power your PA system on and off correctly, eliminating excessive inrush current that could trip circuits. With eight sequenced outlets on the rear panel, it provides optimal protection to your speakers and other valuable equipment. Each of the eight sequenced outlets has an individual switch and indicator on the front panel. The power sequencing feature allows your gear to power up in stages, ensuring adequate time for each unit to stabilize before the next piece of gear powers up. There are two unswitched (always-on) outlets and one USB charging port on the front panel.

The Sound Town STPS-1028 also has a power filtration feature onboard. It removes unwanted noise and optimizes the sound performance from your music gear. Its built-in protector gives you power you can count on. Even better, the LCD display provides a real-time data readout. With 1U rack-mountable design and a robust metal chassis, it has a small footprint and withstands the wear of mobile use.

Note:While the STPS-1028 comes with universal outlets that accept the US and Europe power plugs, the US version (available in the North America market) only supports 120V and doesn’t support 240V.

To keep your music gear safe, check out the Sound Town STPS-1028.

My Electrical Engineering degree is a bit long in the tooth, so I consulted with a couple of my classmates and they agree. There are NO components in this product that would serve as spike and surge suppression! None. The AC input goes to the outputs. No capacitors, no MOVs, no ferrite beads ... nothing. Look at the description. It says "Built-in spike and surge protector guards against voltage fluctuations and electrical surges".As for power sequencing ... it looks fine. I haven't tested it yet. But it's unacceptable to claim to have functionality that is completely not there.Edit Dec 4, 2024 .... Sound Town responded to my inquiry and agreed there was an error in the product description and that it in fact does NOT include any surge suppression or protection components. They offered a partial refund which I accepted since the power sequencing is what I need. I'm satisfied with their response and have changed my rating.Edit Jan 10, 2025 ... I've changed my rating to one star for two reasons. The ad still says "protection" even though they admitted that the device has none. And, I discovered a defect that had me chasing my tail for a month. One of the output channels - #8 - does not completely shut off when the power is sequenced off. This causes a partial voltage to still be on that outlet, which causes devices plugged into that outlet to malfunction. I believe the issue is only with outlet #8 and I have been able to eliminate it from my setup and continue to use the unit. But given that there is a relay turning 120V AC on and off, there should be no way a partial voltage should be still connected to the outlet.
