a plumb bob will never let you down, Its hard to find notwist string anymore this string dose whats its supposed to.

Even though I have a couple of exceptionally accurate laser line levels, I still like to go "old school" occasionally and use a plumb bob. A quality brass plumb bob, precisely machined and balanced, is a beautiful, even artistic, tool with ancient origins. However, keep in mind that accurate measurements require not only a good bob but also a well made string. It needs to be braided to minimize the spinning that occurs with twisted line and durable but flexible enough to fall straight without significant stretching even after repeated uses. The two most common string types are braided linen and braided nylon. As stated in the product description, this PC-ITOL Plumb-Rite Plumb Bob Line is braided nylon. It is made in China by Tajima Tool (www dot tajimatool dot com) for the Asian market (The packaging is in Chinese with an inserted paper overlay in English.). It is intended as replacement line for their Plumb-Rite plumb bobs, but I purchased the line to use with my generic brass bob. The "fluorescent" greenish yellow line is 1.2 mm (just under 0.05 inches) thick and comes in a continuous 15 meter (a little over 49 feet) length. As you can see in the product image, the line is wound around a cardboard cutout into three 5 meter (a little over 16 feet) spools with a "cut" line segment angled between each spool. To Tajima Tool's credit, they are generous with the line lengths. I cut the top spool line and measured it at 16 feet 10 inches. All the turn kinks in the line fell out easily when un-spooled. It held my plumb bob with no spinning and no apparent stretching. Of course, it will take time and repeated use to see if the line is durable, but, overall, it has a good quality feel and a reasonable price, so five stars.

The string was exactly like the original which I wanted. I was happy with everything except that for $8, they should send you some directions on how to replace it. Some do's and don'ts. I am mechanically inclined and I did eventually figure it out, but what is your time worth to you? At one point I was thinking that I wished I had just bought a new one. Upon completion I was glad I was able to figure it out, but it probably took between 45 min and an hour. Next time it will be easier as this spool has enough line to replace it 3 times.
