Simple to set up, app is user friendly. Remarkably accurate for an inexpensive unit. My 14 year old has dimentia and we live on 43 acres in the woods. While I keep an eye on him, he has been known to wonder off in a blink of an eye. We also use pet sitters. This gives me so much more time to enjoy a weekend away, not worrying if my little guy will get lost. I set up an area around our home, and while in this, he is on power save mode, as he is connected to our wifi, once he leaves that area he will then use the GPS. The collar works perfectly with his existing collar, and charges so easily too. Thank goodness for this device. It has ellimnated so much worry and stress. Last, as I just snapped a picture, I want to say it is very light weight. So even for little dogs it is not bulky or bothersome

I bought this dog tracker when a previous product was accidentally lost on a walk. This one attaches very securely to the collar. The battery lasts a long time and is easily recharged. It gives very good information about activity and sleep patterns, and tracks your dogs walks accurately. My only complaint is that every time I take the dog out for a walk, I have to dig the iPhone out of my pocket, find the app, open it and tell it to track the walk. When the walk ends, I have to tell the app to stop tracking. I wish it would do this automatically, or that I could easily activate it/stop it from the Apple Watch, Siri or something. Overall, I'm very glad I purchased the Tractive GPS dog tracker.

We live in a wooded area so I was a little skeptical that the tracker would be able to keep up with Henri. It works extremely well and we have peace of mind knowing where he is. We especially appreciate the notifications that tell us he has left the "safe zone"., the long battery life, and the statistics that the tracker generates. Would definitely recommend if you have a dog that occasionally likes to go chasing after deer or decides to join other dogs who are on a walk.

I got this because it has a SIM card in it like a cell phone and has its own service. Other trackers use other people's nearby cell phone services to track your pet. That isn't helpful because I live in the middle of no where in the desert. Verizon, AT&T, Spectrum and most other service providers do not or barely work out here. I have Metro and it does. I don't know who the provider is for Tractiv, butthis tracker is working great!! It is a lot lighter and smaller than I expected which is great. My deaf 15 yr old service dog went missing a couple weeks ago for 5 days and nights. I couldn't eat or sleep. It really messed me up. I wake up panicked still. It's getting better. The people that had her said that all she did was cry, wouldn't come out from her hiding place and wouldn't eat either. 😭People were out here with drones, scouring the desert helping me look for her. It did help narrow my search. Flyers on fences worked!!I can NEVER let that happen to her again.😭She's getting older and may wander. There are coyotes and snakes and all kinds of other dangers out here. I'm so grateful a nice older couple had her and their dog loved her. He was very mad when we took her away. I can't stop crying while writing this. I feel like a bad dog Mom. 😭Sooo, the app tells you the battery life, if they're sleeping, activity levels and history, location history, you can share their tracking with family or friends, alerts you if your fur baby leaves the virtual fences you place in the app, and has other really cool features like radar that it uses to pinpoint exact location within your Bluetooth range. I'm sure it's great for smaller pets. Lights and sound options when you're looking for them also.Unfortunately, if you do not have WiFi to put it in "safe at home" mode it uses more battery life. You have to charge it every 3-4 days like a cell phone. It last much longer if you do have WiFi.The subscription is NOT $5 a month. It's $9 a month for the year, or $6-$7 for 2 years. $5 is a false advertisement. It's worth every penny to me though. Much cheaper than a cell phone. I see it as a way for her to call home and tell me where she is if anything happens kind of thing. The subscription does offer free replacement of the device if it is lost.Don't wait to get a device like this. I wish I had it before that happened. There are options like the ring tags but someone has to find and scan the tag. Please make sure you chose the best product for you and your pet.So far, I absolutely love it. Thank you Amazon and Tractiv for the peace of mind. Truly.

On my second year of using this tracker for my two female hound dogs.I live in a rural area on the edge of a national forest. My two dogs have a penchant for running off on little "adventures" that take them miles and miles from our home. They always come back but there are hunters, ranchers with cattle, a moderately busy scenic highway nearby, coyotes, etc. etc -- plenty of hazards.I got the tracker so that I could go out and run the little rascals down and retrieve them when they take one of these jaunts and it has worked well for that. If I can get within 500 - 1000 feet of them and whistle they will come right to me, with a "Gee, you're out here too? You should have come with us, it was great!" look on their faces. The only slight drawback is that the tracking is dependent on 1) cell phone coverage and 2) GPS reception. Since our area is remote, mountainous and heavily forested both of these can be spotty or even non-existent depending on where the dogs are. The result is that they drop off the map for some period of time and then re-appear when the tracker gets in range of a cell signal and/or GPS. This coupled with the sparse road network means that it can take some time to run them down but over the last two years I have managed to run them down every time they have taken off. Sometimes it takes an hour or two but that is not the fault of the unit --- it's the environment I live in.I've found that the location the unit gives is very accurate. Live mode works very well if you have a strong enough cell/GPS signal. The unit has saved me a lot of worrying and fretting. Before I got it I would have no idea at all where they were and I would just have wait (and hope) they would not get into trouble and would find their way back. BTW, these two must have a biological GPS built into them because after I got the tracker I found that they would go up to 5 miles away and cover a track of 15 miles or so in just a few hours! With the unit I can know, with assurance, that (for instance) "Oh, they're running down the power line right of way to the lake, no big deal" or "They're over at the Smith's ranch, probably chasing calves so I better get them".So now, if I worry, at least it's more informed worrying! : >The unit seems to be durable and waterproof. This is my second year with it and it's holding up well. My dogs come back covered in mud, water, cockleburrs, etc. The unit is scratched up a bit but otherwise no worse for the wear.Battery life is very good. In our wifi power saving zone the battery would probably last up to a week (guessing). Out of the power saving zone and with a lot of live mode tracking I would estimate that battery life would be 1 -2 days. Can't really say for sure because I charge the unit every night, just in case.My dogs are getting a bit older now and are less adventurous; this unit helped me get them through their adolescence and was certainly worth every penny for the unit and subscription!UPDATE: February 2025The battery on the tracker that I purchased nearly two years ago degraded to the point that I would have to charge it every night. The charge would barely last 24 hours, less if I was using live tracking. A couple of times it went flat while I was still out looking for my dogs. So, I bought another one. The newer model has an updated charging arrangement that is a cradle that securely snaps on to the tracker. The older model had a cord with a magnetic socket that was easy to detach so you had to be careful when setting it down or the connection would be lost. So the new charging arrangement is definitely an improvement. The newer model has great battery life. So far I have gone 3 - 4 day (with a fair amount of life tracking in there) without it dropping below 50%. This better than I got when my first unit was new so perhaps Tractive has improved some of the inner workings too.So -- not a complaint at all. I got almost two years use out of the first tracker and I think that is quite good. Nothing lasts forever, all things wear out and for the price (less than $50) I consider this good longevity.Great product, at least for me, and I will definitely renew my subscription (for the third year) come March when it expires.

Overall I think its a good product. I bought it for my puppy as I was concerned she might escape from the backyard. The activity tracking features are a fun bonus to me. I like that I can set virtual fences that alert me if my puppy goes outside the virtual fence. I have a small house so the virtual fence doesn't go small enough to be just my house, however it gets small enough that my puppy still can't go far before I get notified. And I think having it be that bit bigger than house means that I don't get false alarms. I enjoy the local leaderboard feature. I think its cute to be able to see how active other dogs in the area are. I also really like the light and noise features. I have started training my puppy to respond to the noise feature as a recall signal which I think will be great for for when they are off lead.My only real complaint is the battery life. I find that it needs to be charged basically every day. I find it easiest to charge it overnight just like my phone. It does charge fast enough though that I can also charge it while she naps during the day and have it on nearly 24/7. Just depends what you want to use it for. I put it on my cat to see where he goes outside and I did find that the battery lasted a lot longer as he barely moves all day. I only had to charge it every 2-3 days for the cat. So I think it depends on how active your animal is. My puppy is quite active. Shes up and running around and playing for about 5 hours everyday. As per some of the other reviews stating their tracker stopped working after about a month, I signed up for the $14 a month subscription, which i would recomend doing for at least the first month or 2 to make sure you like it and it works well in your area before commiting to the cheaper but upfront yearly plans as others have said if the product doesn't work they could not get a refund for the subscription only the tracker itself.
