These have been my go to drumsticks for probably about 10 years. They have a larger diameter but the unique taper keeps the weight down, and helps with grip, while still feeling very balanced.

I began playing the drums when I was 8 years old. My first go to stick was the Pro Mark 5A nylon tips. But nothing compares to Daney Carry’s sticks! They weigh about the same although the Danny Carey signature sticks By VIC FIRTH are perfectly balanced and feel as though They are as light as a pair of Pro Mark five A’s. Also towards the butt end of the stick they The stick is a little thinner where you would naturally hold the sticks hence giving you a better grip. Plus, they make these in regular wood tips or nylon tips. I prefer the nylon tips.

Have been playing for over 40 years, and currently playing on a large church worship team. I have played VF Extreme 5b for many years, and have enjoyed them a lot. I like the extra 1/2 inch of length that the extreme gives you over regular 5b. This stick is heavier than the extreme 5b, which I'm really ok with, since the tapered shaft at the fulcrum makes this stick effortless to play. Our sound guy said that he could definitely hear more punch and the cymbals sounded amazing. This stick gives you a lot of dynamic control, by its overall design and weight, and it makes playimg feel effortless. If you watch Danny Carey play, you see why he designed this stick the way it was. He plays very intricate patterns with extreme dynamics and a crack on snare. Try this stick out, your wrist with thank you!

I like these sticks and the tapered grip zone. a little bit girthy. wish they had smaller options. as hard as I try, I still don't sound like Danny Carey and my tool chops are still off slightly.

Used these before so knew what I was getting. Happy that the wood grain is straight and tight as I like it. Well matched pair, Vic Firth quality.

tried these just for the hell of it and they have become my favourites. Good if you like to hit hard. I like to like Vic Firth sticks in general but these have a great feel and I like the subtle groover for better grip .

I orginally purchased one pair of these sticks because I was actaully trying to find something as close to this other stick that was no longer made. When it arrived this wasn't it. So this stick ended up within my bottom dresser drawer that contains a boat load of sticks. Just recently I crossed paths with it once again and I slipped it into my bag to take and use at my drum lessons. But after playing with it for a while it opened my eyes up quite a bit. The thing for me is I am always working on the Tommy Aldridge stick twirling. Tommy uses that Promark 2S in the heavier Japanise oak. Ever hold those? Heavy stick! Could be used as a weapon. Promark makes a 2S also that is Texas American Hickory which is a bit lighter and easier for me. But what I like about this stick is the weight and balance + the machined taper in the grip makes for some good balance. There is enough weight. And I also most of the time use the butt end of this stick as the tips are a little light. Depends on what I am doing. Sometimes I will flip it around quick for a traditional grip thing and noodle around on my hihat and then I will twirl them a tad and next thing ya know, I'm pumping my twin bass drums and slamming down on my kit with the Butt ends. I think sometimes we evolve quite a bit with sticks. One month it's this and later on it's that. But this month I am buying loads of these. I hope they keep on making them and I think right now I will be using this for quite some time. When I train or practice I will use the Aldridge heavy oak to build up strength. This stick is heavy enough yet versitle for me.
