The Visual Schedule for Home

Do everyday routines with your children feel really hard work? Does your child resist doing simple everyday tasks?

When a child doesn't know what is happening life feels out of control. They resist. By showing them what is happening and when, they gain a sense of control. They have ownership and life no longer feels scary. This means they can complete their tasks in a calm, and happy manner.

A calm and happy child = a calmer and happier family.

Featuring The Beanies

You will find our lovable characters, The Beanies throughout the artwork in the Visual Timetable For Home, representing all different aspects of life. They are designed to be gender neutral and age neutral so that as many individuals can identify with them as possible. They are also a lot of fun!

Why do visual symbols make such a great form of communication?

bedtime routine chart

They support processing.

Pictures are easier to process than words. As soon as words are spoken they disappear. Pictures just stay there while someone processes their meaning.

They have no tone of voice.

Different tones of voice can add another layer of complication to spoken language. Pictures don't have this, they just stay the same!

child pointing at visual timetable for school

They communicate routine and transition.

Visual symbols allow someone to see what is coming up next, meaning they can prepare both mentally and physically.

Transferable between environments.

Visual symbols can provide the same, consistent communication method wherever you go.

I just received this and think its really cute and great for small children! I love how the cards are legible and the Velcro is nice and durable, not flimsy. The set comes with a lot of options too. My only compliant is that we do a snack in the morning and a snack at night but there is only one snack card. We also brush hair morning and night, brush teeth, etc. and there is only one card. I understand you can simply transfer the card between the two boards, but we keep one downstairs as a visual aid when she wakes up and one upstairs when she gets home from school. I also understand having multiples also doesn't make sense as everyone's routines are different so this is a very minor thing for a great product.

Ready to use, clear images with words, and printed on great material! Arrived in perfect condition, and with super helpful Velcro on the back (and with Velcro boards to make a schedule). I use these as prompts for transitions and to help with nonverbal episodes with my daughter. Highly recommend!

Me and my husband were trying to find a visual routine for our 4 year old. We were having bedtime problems to get settled for the night easier. I ordered these because they looked durable enough that if our 6 month old got one they wouldn't get to damaged. I wasn't sure how well this would work honestly. The day it arrived honestly my son gets excited anytime a package he was excited to see it. I went over what every card ment and even though he can't read after a few days he was able to recognize all the cards. He is excited to take tasks off the boards and reminds me if I forgot to set it up for him. He also likes to try to add suggestions to the day as well. He will always check what rank is next.I just used command strips to attach it to a wall. When I contacted seller about getting extra boards she got back to me right away.Only negative I have is I do wish the kits came with and option more that 2 boards so I could do a whole days routine but I don't mind buying the extra ones either and I wish there were some duplicate cards in the box like wash hands, drink and toilet. Other than that it is a great product
