I ordered this to extend my current ram mount. The metal bracket is too heavy for the suction mount and the diameter of the ball is much larger. This product shouldn’t be advertised as compatible with ram mounts. I returned it as soon as I saw how big, bulky and heavy it is.

Sturdy construction. Relatively weak spring. You have to almost disassemble it to swap to a different device. Great if you're only going to use it in place.

This is a well built, heavy duty item. Worked well for my purposes. Might be a little heavier than necessary, but it’s sturdy and does the job.

If you don't know anything about Ram mounts, they are -- in my humble opinion -- one of the best and most versatile mounting systems on the market. This specific arm is for the larger ball mount, 1.5 inch diameter and called Type C I believe. While this would be overkill for a phone or something small, it is great for larger items such as a rear view camera monitor in a camper or a GPS or fish finder in a boat. The large size and heft means that whatever you mount... 'aint going anywhere!This arm is very well made and being aluminum and not plastic, will be -- or should be -- almost impossible to break. I would recommend and would buy again.
