Overall I am very satisfied with this air conditioning unit considering its functions and relatively low price. For the installation, it looks kind of complicated initially. However, there are detailed manual and plenty of instructions online that you can use. It took me a couple of hours to install it correctly. If you have some professional technician to help, it should be faster for installation.Wrt its functions, it has warmed very well since I installed it. The whole living room and the kitchen is kept at a suitable temperature. It also work with a very acceptable sound. It is not noisy at all. The cooling unit also works well. The price is also very acceptable when compared to other air conditioner over $1000. Highly recommend it, my friend!

Bought this because I wasn’t getting enough warm air in the house and best decision ever! Super easy to install and get ready to use as well as being super fast in getting the rooms to the desired temperature. It’s not too loud and works great which is better since I have kids. Fits perfectly and I have literally no complaint about this product.

I installed this unit in my 24x32 shop building to replace a Pioneer unit that had developed a major leak. The building is decently insulated, but has two north-facing garage doors that are on the opposite wall as the unit. I installed the unit during the summer (several >100 degree days) and the unit maintained temp well. This winter has been the true test. My old Pioneer unit struggled in winter, especially on colder days. This one has worked really well. We recently had a couple weeks of constantly below freezing temps with temps at night getting down near zero. This kept my shop building nice and toasty even on the coldest mornings. My only issue with the unit is the thermostat. When on cool, it maintains temp well. But when it's on heat, the thermostat isn't correct. With it set to 60 (lowest setting), it holds the shop building right at 67 degrees. It's a little warmer than I want (normally set to 65), but other than that I'm very happy.

This unit is supposed to be able to hold a set temperature. It does not. Contacting tech support revealed u cannot talk directly to a tech. You tell the problem to a receptionist who then passes the info on. Its like whisper down the lane but worse. The responses were never in anyway helpful resulting in multiple contacts with no help at all. Finally, I sidestepped the provided customer service number and contacted Costway through their websites contact info. They responded that the unit will maintain a temp of 78 in cooling and I think 72 in heating. If that is the only temps it will automatically maintain, then that's not helpful. Mine does not automatically maintain any temp in any mode. I called an ac repair tech and he says the circuit board isn't functioning. Now we begin the process of trying to replace that. I'll add to this when I find out if the unit will maintain any set temp, and how Costway does at dealing with the circuit board.Update 10/17: Costway has no service team that could assist my AC guy in trouble shooting the problem. They also have no parts to repair the unit. They suggested submitting a warranty claim. I'll update this post.Update: Costway refunded the money after making multiple videos showing the unit malfunctioning even when the temp was off by ten degrees. They kept making excuses when it wasn’t functioning within 5 degrees of temp. They did not require me to return the broken unit.

For the first week or two, this machine did not like running anywhere near freezing. It completely iced over on the protective screen. Thus it could not the ice and make any heat. Once I discovered, the icing was on the protective screen, I took it off. Then it worked much better. Heated my home down to -17 Cthe coldest day this winter. But!, When there’s high humidity around 0° This device struggles to make heat. It doesn’t like the high humidity conditions. It ices over and spends most of its time deicing. I don’t know if there’s a solution to fix that. Or if it’s a problem with justice model, or if this is a common problem on all heat pumps. That being said, it ran flawlessly all winter. it might be that this heat pump is too small for my living space. In terms of near 0° high humidity conditions. I recommend getting a larger size then you need if you’re going to use it for heating. Probably in all brands.

I'm speaking on two units I just installed over the past two weeks so this isn't a full "reliability over time" review. As described, the units arrived in two boxes each (the indoor unit with it's bits in one box and the other bits in the outdoor box).Since the units are economically priced and the performance ratings seem quite good, and I only need heat in the shoulder seasons before I switch to full on wood heat (vs the $$$ electric forced air), they seemed to fit the bill. The heating comment is based on the notes that these will work down to -10C (14F). I don't know if that means the units will cease to work or if they will lose efficiency, time will tell. With all that, I decided to do the install myself. Here is where you learn about vacuum pumps, gauges and oil (another ~$200), electrical cutoffs, codes, etc. Did my research before I ordered and the work involved seemed to be straight forward, including running 12/2 wire and conduit (and a new breaker / etc).Following various install videos and a chat with an HVAC buddy of mine, I quickly determined the best approach and took it, and here's what I learned:- the 2" hole required is going to be a tight fit, so when wrapping with the vinyl, make it tight. If one goes larger than 2", note that the wall cap cover isn't going to fit (as it's 2") and the larger hole will require more filling.- the drain hole in the bottom of the outdoor unit is 25 mm, and if you cannot drain directly out, you will need some extras for it (note the size). I installed my units onto a wood deck so I didn't want the water just running wherever so I did this bit of extra, and here is where you need to know the size, which is in the manual- One has to remove all the plastic protective shipping covering from the indoor head to get the tape off, which has to be done to install the com wire. Make sure to take care when handling afterwards to not mark up the plastic.Once the connections were made, line sets torqued to spec, vacuumed for 15 minutes and vacuum leak checked via gauge, everything in place and electrics connected, only then I opened the valves to release the R32 gas and pressure checked all the fittings again for leaks ( with a 50/50 soapy water solution).Verifying no leaks, time to throw the power. LEDs lit up and with some batteries in the remote, I had the unit pumping out heat within minutes of turning on the main power. The units so far work as planned. The heat stability in the house is better than ever (haven't had to cool with them yet, may update after next summer). They are very quiet, even the outdoor units are near impossible to hear inside, and outside it's mostly a whirring fan sound. Now, why the support comment? One outdoor unit arrived in a damaged box, which I didn't notice until after the delivery guy was long gone. When I opened the box, I noticed that the unit had a considerable dent on the business end (connectors / electrics / control unit). I contacted Costway via the Amazon contact process, complete with explanation and photos of the box and the unit, and in less than 24 hours they had a new outdoor unit on it's way. If I could complain about anything it would be the nearly two weeks to wait for the new unit (same time to get the original one). However as I was not intending to install them right away (and I had one good unit to install currently) and Costway DID CHECK to see if the time to receive it was OK, and it was so I'm not faulting anyone. So far so good, and time will tell. At this stage I'm recommending my friends and family to consider these units as I now know what is involved for the install, and they work well (they are quiet and throws heat, cooling shouldn't be an issue, and reasonable to install with what's provided).
